|ARIZONA||VOTES (Trump only)||VOTES (Clinton, Johnson, Stein)|
Transcript of text messages with left-winger who went to Washington D.C. to “protest” Trump’s inauguration…
ME (Boston): (Stirring the pot) – Happy Inauguration Day!
HE: Worst day in US history. Here in D.C. with appropriate banner. See you tomorrow at Women’s March in Boston! Trying hard not to throw up
ME: Nope. Not marching against Trump. Wish him well and cutting him some slack until he screws up. Don’t share those sentiments. Dems sore losers
HE: Already has screwed up. BTW on Monday he is proposing 10 trillion in budget cuts over next decade, twice Ryan budget cuts. I’m not a sore loser, don’t get mad, get even! I don’t wish him well…
ME: Childish tantrum! Boo hoo!
HE: Adult patriotism. Why do you identify with this jerk?
ME: Because I like some of what he stands for, and I hope he can turn some things around and because I don’t believe government is the answer … and because I don’t allow others to think for me – right or wrong!!! I’m surrounded by jerks! What’s one more?
…I was playing with his head a bit – pulling his strings. But I DO support the demonstrations (I don’t call them protests)…happening today (1/21/2017) in Boston, in the nation’s Capitol, in other U.S. cities and worldwide. I strongly support people marching peacefully (and in justified cases like the Civil Rights marches, more forcefully) to push for their rights…with respect and civility and a point/message.
What I DON’T support are those anarchists who took to the streets of Washington D.C on Inauguration Day, attacking police, burning cars and trashing people’s property. I don’t support tactics that instead of advancing a cause, push it backward.
But YES, I’m pleased to see the HUGE turnout for the Women’s March the day after Trump’s inauguration. But it’s not enough to just put on a pink hat, walk around a couple blocks with a placard then go home and on election day tell yourself:
- Well, I’m just too tired to go and vote
- There will be a large turnout so if I don’t vote, it does not matter
- My vote doesn’t count
- I don’t like the candidate
- I’ll have time, I’ll go later…I’ll go tomorrow, I’ll go next week!
Then, when a million other people don’t vote, because every single ONE of these people was thinking the VERY same things above, like you who did not vote for Clinton…all depending on someone else to carry the burden for you OR leaving that voting booth feeling sanctimonious for taking a political high road…we then turn out and “protest”! Yet when you had the opportunity to PREVENT all this, YOU DIDN’T.
This table I did above (hope my math is sound) shows what would have happened IF people had voted for Clinton instead of Gary Johnson and Jill Stein. Did these voters really believe that Gary Johnson (aka Mr. Aleppo, in my mind) and Jill Stein (remember “Jill not Hill”?) were better candidates than Hillary Clinton? Did they really believe that Jill Stein would win! Are you OUT of your minds? Now you’re protesting. So not impressed!!!
In my table alone, about A-MILLION people voted for Stein and Johnson. So let this BE a learning election. EVERY VOTE COUNTS and a “protest” vote is a vote FOR the opposition. The ONLY republican “protest” was in Utah where 207-thousand people voted for another republican, Mormon Evan McMullin, instead of Trump.
So hopefully, those people now in the streets who DID NOT vote, or voted Stein or Johnson or blank — WILL vote STRATEGICALLY in future elections and leave their petulant hurt feelings at home in November 2018 and beyond. Because when you SULK and DON’T VOTE for the Party candidate you did not want…you end up with a President and ruling party you also don’t want! (Although, Trump could do so well that everyone will vote for him! Who knows.)
And remember — NOT voting also means that your party loses:
- Other officials
Local results affect our lives in areas closer to home. Trump wasn’t the candidate the GOP establishment wanted. He wasn’t the candidate rank and file republicans wanted. But they rallied around him…while we were asking: “How can they embrace Trump with all the revelations about his treatment of women (alleged), his refusal to release his taxes, the things he said”, etc.
How? Because OF THE SUPREME COURT! They were smarter! FUTURISTIC!
While Democrats were nursing their fragile, HURT feelings, Republicans held their nose and voted FOR Trump, because they were looking ahead and Democrats and other Liberals were IN THE MOMENT, undergoing therapy. GROW UP! No wonder Republicans think we are sissies! We probably are, too!
Because often you get your wish, and…
When you get it, it sometimes turns against you! It’s even worse when we DON’T listen to warnings from others – or ignore red flags – or heed that inner, nagging voice! So now Republicans have their President-elect. Trump! And I wonder how that feels in private. Because Trump and his beliefs do not jive with Conservative Republicans and their beliefs.
However, republicans were so blinded by Supreme Court appointments and “repealing” Obamacare” that they jumped into bed with Trump. Now whatever Trump does reflects on them! My prediction is: The same wave that swept them into office will also sweep them back out…except the ebbing wave could be a Tsunami!
If I was advising the Republican Party, here’s what I’d tell them:
Take the moral high road. Take a strong stance. Forget about the Supreme Court. Judges will not dictate how Americans live their lives. If you try to use the courts to put restrictions on people or ram your personal beliefs down others throats, you will unleash a tide of civil unrest and opposition that will hurt not only the economy, but America’s reputation and your party’s credibility and prospects.
Remember, REMEMBER, that MORE people voted AGAINST Trump than FOR Trump. All those people who voted 3rd parties, 3rd candidates or write-ins also voted AGAINST Trump too!
Plus many of the people who voted FOR Trump do not necessarily like Trump or even support Trump or the GOP. They just chose to thumb their noses against “the establishment” and TRY Trump for size. These voters can return Trump in 4 years (if by then we still have a democracy!)…or demand a mid-term exchange in 2 years!
Very few republicans came out against Trump and stuck to their principles.
Most of them, like Speaker Paul Ryan and that spineless Utah Representative Jason Chaffetz, flip-flopped and wavered when they thought of their own political futures. They rushed to reject Trump when polls showed he was losing – then rushed to bow at the altar of Trump when it seemed like he was winning. Do they think Trump will EVER forget they did not support him during most of his campaign!
Republicans have a shock coming – a MAJOR shock. Because if they have not yet figured it out yet, Trump will do things only one way: TRUMP’S way, and he won’t care whether that advances or decreases “Republican goals”, especially as he’s NOT beholden to them for money or connections or advice. Trump is interested only in advancing one brand: TRUMP!
And I for one, can’t wait!
- I can’t wait to see how Trump deals with Russia and Putin – and see how that fits with GOP goals.
- Can’t wait to see how he deals with foreign interventions – and how that fits with GOP goals.
- Can’t wait to see how he deals with Immigration Reform – and Muslims – and how that fits with GOP goals.
- Can’t wait to see how he goes about cutting the debt – and how that fits with GOP goals.
- Can’t wait to see how many white supremacists he places in positions of power…and how that fits with GOP protestations of non-racism.
- Can’t wait to see how many family members Trump invites to the swamp…and how this plays out with Republicans attacks on “Pay for Play”.
Finally, I also wish to remind Republicans that the results of this election DO NOT reflect a long-term trend. So far, this election remains an anomaly UNLESS Trump delivers, brings never-Trumpers into the fold, does not get involved in “Pay for Play” scandals related to his business dealings, does NOT alienate those who voted for him and/or DOES NOT further repulse those who did NOT vote for him!
Guess if anyone can do this, it is Donald Trump. I, for one, am willing to give him a chance…
Which is MORE than Republicans gave to President Obama. Around this time in 2008, right after President Obama was first elected, Republicans were meeting in secret to plot and plan how to undermine Obama and pledging loyalty to their “Just Say NO!” approach. Yet today, those very same republicans are urging people to support the new president and give him a chance. Go figure!
Hypocrites. DRAIN THE SWAMP, Mr. Trump!!! We’re watching and waiting with extra nets, thigh-high waders and some stun guns and harpoons for the many toothy alligators, sharks and other vermin lurking below the surface.
And DO NOT forget the vultures circling overhead!
Or the establishment rattlesnakes swimming around you, with tape on their rattlers! Said rattlers (Giuliani, Gingrich, et al) see YOU as their meal-ticket to positions they would NEVER otherwise gain. Because they are so yesterday, their return date is past…even to their own fellow republicans who DO NOT want them, would not vote for them or even hire them – except to hand them a 10-foot pole (30 foot pole?) to propel themselves deeper into the swamp!!!
I suspect many voters already have buyers remorse. Too bad. No returns until 2020. Don’t lose that receipt!

OK, here’s my serious take on the Republican MELTDOWN…
Republican voters are watching debates and Town Halls, attending rallies, listening to the candidates and VOTING FOR Trump and IT IS NOT THE PURVIEW OF THE REPUBLICAN HIERARCHY to “Pick and Choose” the candidate…(this also applies to DEMOCRATS, as well. If voters choose Bernie Sanders or George Orwell (definitely not a republican) then THAT’S the candidate the party has to settle for, LIKE IT OR NOT!).
If party leaders, in their wisdom or arrogance think that voters are irrelevant, then why go through the SHAM of a Primary?
THAT is a problem with the Political Ruling Class right there – and one of the many reasons why things DON’T work in Washington and elsewhere and why voters ON BOTH SIDES are so disgusted with politics. AND, why only certain types of candidates get elected or are PROPOSED for election – and why “We THE People” end up with MORE of the same.
Putting Democrats ON NOTICE: I’m giving you a pass with Hillary because (a) I think it’s time for a Female in the White House and (b) I want to give Republicans indigestion for another 8 years…but AFTER Hillary, Democrats/Democratic National Committee, AFTER Hillary, we no longer want MORE OF THE SAME! You have 8-years to get that house in order.
Seems to me that VOTERS apparently are NOT the ones choosing candidates – seems the PARTIES are choosing the candidates and voters are just granting their seal of approval. Many people understand that – but now it’s become glaringly OBVIOUS to all.
Example: I just watched a spokesperson for a group of republican foreign policy analysts and campaign advisers say PROUDLY, that Trump basically is a moron and his foreign policy is a disaster and they have decided that NONE of them will help Trump OR WORK FOR HIM if he wins! How about doing it IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE COUNTRY?
Does that help you understand now WHY they have worked so diligently to BLOCK President Obama’s agenda – to destabilize Obama and cause him to FAIL, even if that means America also fails? If they can DO this to THEIR leading candidate for president, what do you think they will do to a democrat?
WHAT does THAT say about the state of politics, particularly U.S politics?
You’d think that they would be eager to help Trump, if he really is so green.
The party hierarchy, donors, etc meet behind closed doors to hand-pick the people THEY want, the people THEY think will be pliable and biddable and beholden and then trot them out and fund them and groom them and FOIST them on an unsuspecting public.
When the party elites find themselves in a position where they CANNOT control the process, they are at a loss. And instead of supporting the candidate that their party voters seem to be embracing, they try to derail him or her.
I reckon ONE self-destruct button is NOT sufficient…republicans need TWO! An auto, just in case the manual fails!
Now I’m not saying that Trump is the ideal candidate or the best candidate or an acceptable candidate, whatever…I’m just saying, in the process of U.S. democracy and representative voting and electoral freedom, Trump is the leading candidate and INSTEAD of derailing HIM, (if the GOP does not want him – and who are they to speak for voters?)…
However, IF, in the interests of their party the GOP hierarchy (or the hierarchy of any other party) DOES NOT LIKE OR WANT the leading candidate, then please DON’T destroy or belittle him/her.
Simply PUMP UP the candidates you like and want: fund them, go campaign for them, groom them etc.
BUT DO NOT DESTROY OR DENIGRATE THE LEADING CANDIDATE THAT AMERICANS ARE VOTING FOR!
Or does the GOP think that it is DEMOCRATS who are voting for Trump?
While I enjoy the spectacle of the GOP self-destructing (and don’t for a moment believe that Democrats might not also walk that road – because we humans NEVER learn, we always think that WE will be the ones to get it right!) I find it SAD and PETTY and from the standpoint of democracy – an “Assault on Freedom.”
But then republicans are no strangers to assaults on voter suppression – they’ve simply turned the dagger on themselves this time. And good riddance. This is a monster you created – YOU and your pals on the Supreme Court.
You somehow thought that unlimited amounts of cash can buy an election; well apparently, it can’t always do that.
You somehow thought that when your pals on the Supreme Court handed the election to George Bush with a big red bow, that you were advancing your cause. Well, IT DID NOT. It created this entertaining cringe-inducing fiasco.
I maintain that if the Supreme Court had let Florida count its votes or let people vote again, Al Gore would have won that election – and that is what the republicans on the court were afraid of.
So they gave it to Bush. Bush took the U.S. into Iraq and paved the way for rock-star Obama.
Gore would NOT have bombed Iraq – and after Gore, who knows if there would have been an Obama – or another republican president?
It is NOT good to meddle in things based on impure motives – because it has a way of coming back VERY painfully.
By the way, even Martians will be watching that republican debate tonight!
And yes Mitt Romney – we’ll be sitting…we won’t be on our knees!!! Especially as we’re NOT looking for endorsements…
But there’s still time. I haven’t decided yet whether I will throw my hat into the ring – or should that be my heart?
All photos: Google Images. (Except for those I take myself like at a parade or in Boston or Washington DC…photos usually come from the web)
What does it say about the Romneys – that Mitt Romney’s wife is on TV telling the world that she had a miscarriage – well SEVERAL miscarriages, actually – with the SOLE purpose of making us, luring us, seducing us, FORCING us into liking the unlikable Mitt Romney…???
Revealing their family’s deeply PERSONAL details, in a calculated bid to put a HUMAN face on Mr. Aloof Romney.
I was watching Ann Romney and I was uncomfortable. To me it’s a CRINGE factor.
WHY? Mrs. Romney, Why…? For political gain??? Come now…
Why are you telling us about your miscarriages? You could have had a million miscarriages and this does not make your husband MORE (or less) suitable to be President than if you had NO miscarriages at all.
I just do not understand why the Republican Party and the Romney’s feel that regurgitating their PERSONAL family secrets are necessary to win the presidency? NO, Mrs. Romney. Release YOUR TAX RETURNS. THAT is what American voters want to know.
- How much money you really have…
- Where do you bank your money – because banking in America means more money for banks to lend out and more money to INVEST in this country and CREATE THE JOBS that you and Republicans are braying about so much.
- How much taxes did you pay to the US government to help them maintain the roads and other services that you now want to cut…
- You were taxed at WHAT TAX RATE? We know that for 2010 you paid a LOWER rate than middle class families. You paid 13-percent on a gross adjusted income of $22 MILLION while your running mate Paul Ryan who made about $200-300 THOUSAND (2010/2011) paid at a higher tax rate of 15-20 percent.
- How much money are you hiding in off-shore banks OUTSIDE America? The government has begun to go after super-rich Americans like you who hide their money overseas. This costs the government, voters and the economy billions of dollars in LOST revenue. If you are elected, will YOU go after these super-rich tax dodgers, Mr. Romney?
THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO HEAR, Mr. Romney. NOT your personal family secrets.
No amount of miscarriages, kids disillusionments or personal illnesses will make me feel sympathetic enough to vote for you, (or anybody else) unless your case is similar to that of a Gabby Giffords. I do not know Gabby Giffords, but you, Mrs. Romney, are NO Gabby Giffords.
(Giffords, a U.S Representative from Arizona, was shot in the head 2011 during a meet and greet event and fought her way back.) Spunky Gabby Giffords is about the only politician I’m prepared to fill sorry for at this point…and I don’t think she’s seeking pity either!
Mrs. Romney…HOW DARE YOU THINK THAT you will go on television and tell me that you had miscarriages and that your son took it badly and that this will make me so sorry for poor Ann Romney that I will immediately love you, embrace you to my gullible bosom and FALL IN LOVE with your robotic husband!?
I much prefer LAURA BUSH. Laura Bush, like Michelle Obama, is likable. I suspect Laura Bush had a much harder time dealing with her errant husband and headstrong girls than Mrs. Romney ever did with her family. Laura Bush stood by her man, (a man I absolutely detested when George Bush was President) even when he was a drunk or “choked” on a pretzel. I like Bush W. better now largely because he’s been GRACIOUS since leaving office, unlike his moronic egomaniac of a Vice President, Dick Cheney.
I understand that Mrs. Romney needs to de-roboticize her husband. Make him likeable. But please, NOT by revealing personal family stuff. We don’t need to know about your miscarriages, especially as you have five, yes FIVE strapping sons. It would be different if:
- The Romney’s had no kids and now I learn they had several miscarriages…
- If Romney was running to be the head of some clinic that specializes in fertility treatments or providing support for families who can’t have babies…
- If Romney had even KNOWN about the part where his last son came home and had a tantrum or a mini breakdown because his mom lost a potential little brother or sister. BUT APPARENTLY ROMNEY DID NOT EVEN KNOW ABOUT THIS MINI DRAMA THAT UNFOLDED IN HIS OWN HOME UNTIL HIS WIFE CONTRIVED TO BLURT IT OUT ON TV. He did not even KNOW, (or so they claim) but it’s supposed to “humanize” him. Umm-hmm. I donated my wedding ring to charity. My husband does NOT know, but still, isn’t he a generous man?
Given that family’s propensity for CALCULATED actions by design, I find it hard to believe. I’m sure they probably REHEARSED that interview to death – what to ask, how to say it, what NOT to say, etc. But I’m cynical – so assuming HE REALLY DID NOT KNOW, he did not even look shocked.
NO “What? You never told me anything…darling!”
NO REACTION AT ALL. HIS WOODEN FACE REMAINS WOODEN – while his wife recounts how traumatized their young son was by learning his mom lost a baby – and then we, the viewers, have to embrace this unemotional Mitt Romney. He doesn’t even LOOK moved, but WE should be!!!
Hey Mr. Romney, next time: REACT! (If you can!!!)
The Romneys are one of those political families who will do anything, say anything, pretend to be anything to gain political office. NO wonder Massachusetts U.S. Senator, Romney’s fellow Republican Scott Brown (of the naked pictures in Cosmopolitan magazine) is avoiding the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida. Brown is not speaking. He will just drop in, touch and go. He’s been running so hard AWAY from Mitt Romney that he’s probably going to represent neighboring Connecticut by now…
NOTE TO POLITICIANS. I do NOT want to hear intimate details of your personal family life – especially if the SOLE purpose of releasing said details is to arouse my sympathies or shape my perception of you.
Now I am NOT uncaring of Mrs. Romney’s illness, having Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and losing her babies. Those are traumatic events and the family got through it intact. The Romneys appear to have a tight-knit family (I’ve said so before) and kudos to them. I admire that. I hope they stay that way. There are too many families who are fighting and tearing each other up and many of them even do so publicly.
But, when it comes to making Romney likable, please tell me about the time when a little Romney got into the fridge and he was all covered with honey and sprinkles and Mitt came in and fell down laughing! (OK. We’re never gonna hear that cause Mr. Uptight Mitt does not know how to laugh, but I can dream!)
Please don’t tell me anymore of your family secrets. It is CRINGE worthy because we know WHY you’re baring your soul and IT IS NOT PRETTY. Why NOW? Mitt has been running for political office for nearly 20 years.
- He ran for the U.S. senate against Ted Kennedy
- He ran for governor and served one term
- He has spent 8 years running for President
- Surely the Harold Melville & the Blue Notes song: “If you don’t know me by now, you will never, never, never know me…” should be Mitt Romney’s anthem?
SO HOW IS IT WE STILL DON’T KNOW MITT ROMNEY? WHY DO WE NEED TO HEAR THAT HIS WIFE HAD MISCARRIAGES FOR US TO UNDERSTAND HIM? See any red flags here?
Mrs. Romney, there are women across America, some extremely poor women, some just getting by, who also have miscarriages and were not lucky enough to carry ANY of their babies to term. So they have either adopted or remained childless. Some may even STILL be trying to get pregnant. And guess WHAT, they DO NOT have your resources/comfort behind them. Some may be on welfare or government healthcare. Some may even be fighting with their employers or insurance companies for time off or to get coverage for their health costs. Some women may be facing bankruptcy due to their health care bills.
Some of these woman do not have maids and housekeepers. They have to drag their sorry butt out of bed the next day to take care of business – maybe even go to work or lose their job.
Some of these women may not have as lovely or spacious or appealing places to live like you. They may live in rough, stressful neighborhoods. They may have no support – their spouse may not be loving or even present. Maybe he split or wasted what money there is on drugs and alcohol. Do you understand that, Mrs. Romney?
There are many women who are suffering from debilitating illnesses like cancer, or even MS, and have NO support system, nobody to take care of the kids, no household help, just maybe a social worker or a charity or concerned neighbors.
There are many, many women for whom life is hard, VERY hard, Mrs. Romney. Really hard, not contrived hard.
Nobody wants to be ill and nobody wants to lose babies. But I think most of us would rather choose to be rich (than poor) if we had to face illness or miscarriages. While the heartache is the same, it is multiplied when you are poor because you have to deal with so many OTHER issues…on top of those that come with the illness or miscarriages. Poor people can’t afford the same level of high-tech care…can’t afford to sit back and recuperate…or to dismiss chores and medical expenses.
I do not want any other presidential candidate or their wife to throw their family secrets at me and burden me with their emotional angst. I have enough of my own! Keep yours! Jacqueline Kennedy would have DIED before she went on TV talking about her philandering husband or her personal issues. We could have been SORRY for her, but she had something called Pride! Wanna know what that is? Ask Hillary Clinton. Go talk to your family, your friends, your pastor about your personal issues. The White House is NOT Hollywood or Reality TV.
So Michelle Obama, just in case you’re thinking of giving me details of your own miscarriages (I suppose you had some too?) PLEASE DON’T. I don’t care. I don’t care how many miscarriages you had or did not have. I don’t care if Sasha was depressed. I don’t care about any of this crap except:
- Are you going to reform immigration?
- Are you going to REPEAL health care for all?
- Are you going to extend the 2-year Deferred Action for Immigrant Kids that President Obama signed?
- Are we really able to haul China before the World Trade Organization with no harm to us?
- Are you going to appoint a judge who will help the Supreme court overturn Roe vs. Wade?
- Are you going to trim the deficit?
- Are you going to invest in clean energy or continue to champion oil, gas and coal?
- Are you going to cut programs for the poor?
- Are you going to bomb Iran?
- How are you going to stimulate the economy?
- Will you keep cutting taxes?
- Will you slap regulations on big banks, Wall Street, student loan companies?
- How fertile are you? Not Applicable.
Republicans pretend to inclusive by seating delegates from black populations like the US Virgin Islands and the Marianas (hey, do you think Romney has stashed some millions there?) UP FRONT so the camera can pan on them to show how diverse Republicans ARE when these delegates don’t even VOTE in the U.S elections! How diverse is their delegation from Arizona? Phu-leese.
I just choose Arizona at random, OK. Maybe most of the Republican delegates are Hispanic – those who still remain in that state – because these Hispanics can walk around with a U.S. Passport to show police when they are stopped for LOOKING illegal?
So did ANN Romney convince you to love Mitt? I’m practically drooling. Two minutes into New Jersey governor Chris Christie’s speech, he IS already MORE believable!!! Don’t necessarily agree with everything he says – but HE’S REAL! She spoke about Love, TOUTED love. Now Christie says we seem have become paralyzed by our desire to be loved. Ahem.
Now all I need is a couple boxes of tissues – for Mitt’s big speech.
Congressman Paul Ryan, House Budget Committee chair on ABC’s This Week: 07/01/12
“The broken promises and the hypocrisy are becoming breathtaking from the president who says one thing to get this past Congress and then another thing to get it past the Supreme Court….look at the hypocrisy. The president on your show said this is not a tax. Then he sent his solicitor general to the Supreme Court to argue that it is a tax in order to get this past the Supreme Court.”
Well imagine Republicans actually ADMITTING to a concept called “Hypocrisy” and with a straight face too.
Dear Mr. Ryan…
I can’t defend President Obama on whether he knew it was a tax or a mandate. He did not call me to share his thoughts nor was I privy to their deliberations. I am going by what he said. (Yes, I know…he’s a politician too, bless his soul! Pinch of salt, etc…).
- Obama said it was a Penalty.
- In Massachusetts Romney said his RomneyCare carried a Penalty – he did not call it a tax.
- Now the Supreme Court says the penalty in ObamaCare is a tax
- Does this mean that the penalty in RomneyCare is a tax too? I’m sure you will say NO! Because of course the federal laws that apply to the rest of America DO NOT apply here in Massachusetts – which is why we are so liberal and which is why a Penalty here is a “tax” over there!
- Health Care Debate 101…
I listened to the commentary – listened to Romney’s reaction – listened to Republicans and Democrats and everybody in between and what I came away with is this: We spent the last 4 years fighting over Health Care Reform…and it’s not over! Apparently it has not yet even begun. We are going to waste the next 4 years fighting over Health Care. Is America for real?
The health care you are fighting over has not bankrupted Massachusetts – 98 percent of our residents are covered. Yes it is expensive, but those costs are beginning to come down because more people are getting PREVENTATIVE care. Yes, more people are:
- Seeing doctors who are catching problems before they become critical.
- These doctors are coaching people on healthy lifestyles that PREVENT DISEASE
- WHAT IS THERE NOT TO LIKE?
- It did not STOP job creation – we are tops among the nation under our new Democratic governor, Obama pal Deval Patrick.
- Why would you not want that kind of statistic in every state?
- Why do the hypocrites who rail against universal health care try to sneak in here to get ours?
- Why don’t they go to Paul Ryan and ask HIM to pay for THEIR health care?
- Why do you let Republicans play political GAMES with you and the health of you and your family/loved ones — instead of demanding that they sit down with Democrats and look at parts of the bill that need fixing – AND FIX IT.
- Whom do you think YOU are hurting when you don’t have health Care, don’t buy it – then get into an accident and don’t have it? Who is going to pay for you? Surely NOT the government? Because you don’t want the government involved in Health Care, remember…? I know, John Boehner will pay your bill. Lucky you!
Republicans have been killing Health Care reform for decades, including the effort by Hillary Clinton. Remember that? WHAT DO THEY HAVE AGAINST HEALTH CARE FOR ALL – and why have they NOT put forward their own viable plan…and PASSED it…when they ruled Congress and Newt Gingrich was Emperor?
Boy they thought that they HAD President Obama. They could NOT get Congress to overturn the Health Care Act so they decided to send it to their buddies at the Supreme Court whom they expected to rule in their favor. What a shock it must have been…when the decision came! La-di-dah-do!!! What a Maalox Moment!
See, Republicans think that Americans are stupid – that voters don’t see through their shenanigans – that sane people do not understand that Republicans use underhand and devious ways to RAM their bigoted, biased, out of touch ideas and platforms on the rest of us.
But you do. We do.
We understand that Republicans use (or TRY to use) the Supreme Court (and other courts) to force their beliefs on the rest of us. When the courts side with them: great judges, constitutional scholars. When the courts don’t : “activist” judges, liberal elitists!
Their plan is to people the courts with conservatives who will rule along party ideology…then because they oppose something (usually somebody or group’s civil rights) like gay marriage, sue to block gay marriage.
Here’s an example of Republicans using the courts to force their twisted concepts on the rest of us: House GOP leaders in Connecticut plan to ask the Supreme Court to rule on the constitutionality of the 1996 federal law that bans federal marriage benefits for same-sex couples who are legally married. They don’t like gays and don’t support the Defense of marriage Act so of course it’s unconstitutional…and if it’s not, then by God they will make it!!!
The other tack they use is to stir up public opinion and get people to vote for their unconstitutional ideas believing that if they rile enough people up against gay marriage and these people vote for some referendum saying that gay marriage is bad – then that makes it legal – because the people have spoken!
Yes, we the same people who thought:
- The sun revolved around the Earth
- That the earth was flat and when you got to the end you’d fall off
- That slavery should NOT be abolished
- That blacks should not get the vote
- That women should not get the vote
- That blacks and whites should not marry or integrate
- That gays cannot serve in the military
- That men and women do not deserve equal pay
- and so on…
We the people who self-righteously made all the above decisions and more…are really in a position to shove aside our bigotry and self-serving blarney and grant power to others, especially to others we don’t like or agree with.
If you look at the civil rights that the courts have granted to people, to minority groups, to wronged classes, to under-represented groups…think where we would BE if the courts had not stepped in.
So the law can work both ways. And Republicans try to use both sides to further their twisted political agenda…
Republicans don’t give a damn about fairness or ethics – if the constitution said to skin cats, they’d stick to the Constitution to the letter of the Law and skin every cat they could find. Know what Jesus had to say about that (Luke 13: 10-16) when he was chastised…chastised for working on the Sabbath because he healed a woman who had been sick for 18-years? Jesus called the ruler of the synagogue (John Boehner in an earlier life?) a hypocrite! Republicans and Jesus would NOT agree…
So to get back to the Supreme Court and John Roberts. I’m not on board. Still to come:
- Affirmative Action (which is good and bad and responsible for the advancement of many minorities)
- Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).
It is my opinion that Roberts wanted to depolarize/de-politicize the Supreme Court so he chose an argument about Taxation which I can’t follow…It is a Tax but it’s not a Tax? Whatever…! Bottom line is that Romney apparently slapped a TAX on us here in Massachusetts with his Health Care Mandate…and every year I have to show I have Health Care or I pay a Tax penalty – which is not a penalty – it’s now a Tax “Tax”.
By calling the mandate a “Tax” Roberts provided fodder for Republicans to kick up a political furor…
Paul Ryan says Roberts “had to rewrite the statute in order to call this a tax.”
So if Roberts can find a convenient loophole to muddy the legal waters so he can save the reputation of his court – does that happen/can that happen/has that happened in other cases as well?
Do I now look at Supreme Court rulings as:
- Strict interpretation of the law?
- A face saver?
- A compromise?
- An ideological ruling?
Meantime, pundits are urging Mitt Romney to stop running as a business man and show some substance…
If Romney does NOT run as a businessman- what else is there?
Romney is known for being:
- A businessman (of the loan shark kind.)
- “Saving” the Olympics (by getting a financial bail-out from Washington).
- Governor of Massachusetts (by proxy! His only achievement, Universal Health Care with a mandate he endorsed by signing the bill with LIBERAL Ted Kennedy standing behind him – he ran away from it to please conservatives. Now he can’t jog back (watch him try in the debates), especially with the Supreme Court ruling. So what’s left? THERE IS NO SUBSTANCE. He can try to manufacture some “substance” but it comes across as phony…
When the layers will be stripped away in the debates – you’ll see how much substance he has…
Mitt Romney loves women…so much…
He’s a regular Casanova!
He even loves gay women. You believe that, hmnn?
Well of course he loves you NOW that he needs YOUR vote in November.
He loves you so much he just hates the way President Obama took your job away…
The way you were better off under George Bush!
The way that he will give you and your gay partner jobs, but left to him if either of you get hurt on that very same job that he so wants you to have — neither of you will be able to go see the other in your sick beds.
And if either of you die, the survivor won’t have any rights.
But what do THOSE things matter, long as he gets you as job! Unlike Obama who just wants to take your job away and give you your rights…
Under WHOM do you think you have the BEST choice of having BOTH a job AND your rights? Romney or Obama?
YOU choose. You’re not as stupid as Romney seems to think you are!!
Mitt Romney and Republicans love women .
They loves women so much…
They are determined to support only judges who will strip you of your rights to control your ovaries…your vagina…and your eggs.
It is their love and RESPECT for Women’s Rights that keep them bowing down at the altar of Misogyny…to those who call a women “slut” and “prostitute” because she dared to agitate for the right to contraceptive care…much as MEN have the right to Viagra! What a stiff!!
It is because Romney and Republicans love women so much that they oppose any judge who will support Roe v. Wade.
Just think: Daddy Romney loves you so much that he will choose for YOU if you should have an abortion or not.
He will decide for YOU if you can get the Morning After Pill – or not!
Romney and Republicans love women so much they tried to cut funding for the Federal Head Start program that provides low-cost educational, health, nutritional, social and other services, including childcare for poor women.
According to Wikipedia, Head Start is one of the longest-running programs to address systemic poverty in the United States. As of late 2005, more than 22 million pre-school aged children had participated. But then what did Romney say about poor people: He’s not concerned about the very poor?
Romney will decide for you if Planned PARENTHOOD should stay open to provide health care to women. Remember the Susan G. Komen debacle…they will find a way! A sneaky way…
They will go after Planned Parenthood with guns blazin’ and try to CLOSE it because it provides abortions. They will NOT understand that the agency does not use federal funds to provide abortions and that Romney’s own money is safely stashed away in the Caymans or where-ever he has it, far we hope, from abortions!
By the way, apart from his old company Bain — how many jobs have Romney created with his personal wealth? Lets’ see: his accountants to count his money, his tax advisers to tell him where to hide it, the contractors building his many houses. I get it.
Mitt Romney loves women so much that he doesn’t give a hoot if Immigration agents raid a factory and herd the women off to a shed in Texas and leave the kids alone in Massachusetts and elsewhere – in the care of other women. Oh sorry. I forget. These are immigrant women. Illegal immigrant women. They don’t count. THEY are NOT women. Not really…
Mitt Romney loves women so much that he opposed the Dream Act. If any of those immigrant kids were born of mothers and NOT pods…then those mothers are NOT women!
Mitt Romney loves women so much and is so concerned with jobs for women that he opposed bailing out the auto industry because all those men who lost their jobs were married to other men!
Far as Romney is concerned, there were NO women working on those assembly lines because of course, ALL women are at home, like his wife, taking care of their kids, driving around in several Cadillacs and then reversing into their multi-car garages with elevators that take them up and down all day.
How can Obama compare with that...elitist that he IS!!!
I am both For and Against the argument that Augusta should admit women. and I’ll tell you why…
The only reason I got interested in golf was because of Tiger Woods. I was in England when such a fuss was being made over Tiger Woods (he was playing in the British Open, I think…) that I decided to watch…and was fascinated. I later watched him play at the 1999 Ryder Cup – in Brookline, MA. And that’s the extent of my dealings with golf.
Why MUST private male clubs like The Augusta National Golf Club be forced to admit women if it wishes to remain non-inclusive?
You can argue that they’re sexist, or racist or anti-whatever. I say so what?
It seems to me that a group of men or women or kids or dogs or racists or nationalists or immigrant haters or constitution amenders CAN and should be able to form a group or an organization and DECIDE who should be members.
Are you telling me that I would be a bad person or a hater of fathers or disrespectful of married women if I started a club for single mothers and limited it to single black mothers…or single mothers who underwent a gender change – or single mothers who don’t work – or single mothers from the projects or single mothers from English speaking countries?
What if the club develops so much power that eventually anyone we back for President wins?
Should I then open up to other people – even if my agenda is to propel the specific group I represent into the White House? A group that I decide YOU do not fit? What if I do not want you or others like you, (whether they be black, white or female) to ever gain power, misguided as my sentiments may be? Should a Republican sue to join the Democratic National Committee – and vice versa?
Would someone then FORCE me to accept DIVORCED mothers? Or married mothers? Or mothers from Poland? Why…?
Seems to me that as soon as SOMEBODY does NOT like what you say – or WHO you are – or WHAT you do — it becomes a NATIONAL furor!
Let’s FORCE other people into OUR way of thinking.
Should I now try to join the Ku Klux Klan? What if I believe that after interacting with ME they’ll change their opinions of black people?
Shouldn’t groups be able to remain homogenous or exclusive if they want to?
There are agencies that SHOULD be open and accessible to all…and there are agencies that can remain exclusive.
How about pushing for women to play in the NBA or the MLB…? Wouldn’t that make more sense?
Shouldn’t the NBA have female players by now? Someone from the WNBA? Remember Lisa Leslie -retired Los Angeles Sparks (1997-2006, 2008-2009). How about pushing for THAT, hmn?
Instead of whining that: a group of white males won’t allow me to play with them…!!! SO WHAT? FORM YOUR OWN CLUB…
Come here to Massachusetts. We have lots of land where you IBM can set up an exclusive club, a GOLF club even, for female executives. One where we (well not “we”…I’d not be accepted, ever. DO YOU SEE THESE HOT SHOT FEMALE EXECS INVITING A WOMAN FROM THE PROJECTS TO JOIN THEIR CLUB? But I’ll whine about THAT later.)
Open a Club where these “female execs” can sit around, put their legs up and not worry too much if there is a glimpse of underwear. (It happens.) And when they bend over, then no big deal either over the view from either the front or the back. But more importantly, where females can mouth off with no restraint about how men really, really are pigs! Sorry boys…
(No. You do NOT need to talk about female issues at all! Talk about kicking male a–! Talk about kicking other female a–! Talk about breaking into the market in China.
Talk about setting up a scholarship fund for the kids of poor, clueless female bloggers like me! (What about MALE bloggers, you ask ? Yes, what about them…?)
Wouldn’t take long before it was MEN whining about joining YOUR club!!!
Now while I can run my mouth as much as I want, NOT being a lawyer, I can only make the case with a quote from the link above, titled:
FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION AFTER ROBERTS V. UNITED STATES JAYCEES.
“National associations with restrictive membership policies are faced with a choice. They may continue their discriminatory membership policies in the hope that either states will refrain from applying public accommodation statutes against them or, if enforcement is attempted, that they will be able to defend themselves successfully in court.
Immediately after the decision in U.S. Jaycees was announced, spokespersons for at least two national associations with all-male membership policies expressed confidence that their policies would receive the constitutional protection withheld from the Jaycees.n98 Although it is probably too early to say for certain, this may suggest that U.S. Jaycees will not result in a large number of associations voluntarily abandoning discriminatory membership policies.
The other option associations have is to do just that: to seize U.S. Jaycess as an opportunity to reconsider the purpose and value of a policy of excluding a particular class of persons, and then move to open up membership. At least with respect to sex classifications, one might guess — in view of the rapid rise in the public’s sensitivity to the consequences of gender-based discrimination — that many associations will choose that course.
Still, it is interesting to note that after women were admitted as members by its Minneapolis and St. Paul chapters, the national membership of the Jaycees continued to vote overwhelmingly to retain its all-male membership policy. In 1975, members voted down a proposal to open membership to women by a margin of about ninety percent to ten percent. However, the vote was dramatically different six weeks after the decision in U.S Jaycees was announced, when the Jaycees finally amended their bylaws to allow the admission of women as full members…”
And by the way, President Obama, you don’t always NEED to comment on everything…like Trayvon Martin or club memberships or race relations…
