Like that OTHER “Mission Accomplished” NEVER!

Today, the Romney/Ryan version of Former President George Bush’s “Mission Accomplished” that never was!!! Set against the back-drop of another flag-draped US. Battleship, this time the U.S.S. Wisconsin! I wonder if they thought of the symbolism of FAILURE!!! WHO chose it? Well, duhhh!

Romney, Ryan have their own version of: “Mission Accomplished!”

Paul Ryan, the U.S. Representative from Wisconsin that Mitt Romney chose as his running mate is conservative dahling and hero! OF COURSE HE IS – HE WANTS TO CUT FOOD-STAMPS!

Yes, that’s Tea party darling Paul Ryan…and am I glad that Romney chose him, because:

If you are unemployed
If you are on welfare
If you get food stamps
If you depend on affordable childcare
If you depend on affordable housing
If your Health Coverage comes from Medicare
If you are a senior depending on Medicaid
If you are POOR
Then Paul Ryan is NOT for you!!!

Ryan Budget: “The Path to Prosperity.”

Paul Ryan wants to balance the budget AND THAT IS EXCELLENT! No argument there. We should ALL want to balance the budget. The point is: HOW DO WE DO THAT?

Let’s look at the U.S. government’s $3.8 Trillion FEDERAL budget for 2011. That budget, submitted to the 111th Congress by President Obama, was passed on April 15, 2011.

Remember that whole nail-biting process when Republicans refused to approve the budget and we were heading to a government shutdown…until the two parties reached a deal just hours before the deadline?

Let’s look at some areas of the 2011 Budget and see which black hole is sucking the MOST of YOUR tax dollars. According to the Center of Budget and Policy Priorities:

BLACK HOLE #1 THAT’S SUCKING OUR TAX DOLLARS: Defense and international security assistance:

In 2011, 20 percent of the budget, or $718 billion, paid for defense and security-related international activities. The bulk of the spending in this category reflects the underlying costs of the Department of Defense and other security-related activities. The total also includes the cost of supporting operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, funding for which totaled $159 billion in 2011.

F-22 Raptors. Unused fighter jets are 143-million-dollar White Elephants…

  • Do you feel safer now with ALL that money spent on defense?
  •  Do you feel safer now after the $159 billion spent in 2011 supporting operations in Iraq and Afghanistan?
  • Do you feel safer now with ALL that money spent on a defense that is based on missiles and bombs that were effective during the cold war, BUT AS WE SEE IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN – are no longer effective against suicide bombers?
  • Do you feel safer now with ALL that money spent on those NEW F-15 bombers that cost 143-million-dollars but are sitting on the tarmac while air force pilots refuse to fly them?

(See my May 03/2012 Post -> Pentagon’s 143-million-dollar White Elephants:

Ryan tax plan will embrace Bush-era Tax Cuts for very rich…while cutting food-stamps and unemployment benefits for poor, middle-class.

DOES PAUL RYAN want to at all CUT some of the notorious waste at the Pentagon? OF COURSE NOT. Paul Ryan wants to cut Food-stamps for poor people.

BLACK HOLE #2 THAT’S SUCKING OUR TAX DOLLARS: Social Security. Another 20 percent of the budget, or $731 billion, paid for Social Security, which provided retirement benefits averaging $1,229 per month to 35.6 million retired workers in December 2011.

Social Security also provided benefits to 2.9 million spouses and children of retired workers, 6.3 million surviving children and spouses of deceased workers, and 10.6 million disabled workers and their eligible dependents in December 2011.

Should Social Security be overhauled? YES, yes! yes!!! Does the Paul Ryan Budget propose a plan to overhaul Social Security WHEN BOTH PARTIES KNOW IT MUST BE DONE? Nobody wants to touch Social Security!

Ryan budget cuts medicaid/medicare

BLACK HOLE #3 THAT’S SUCKING OUR TAX DOLLARS: Medicare, Medicaid and CHIP: Three health insurance programs – Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) – together accounted for 21 percent of the budget in 2011, or $769 billion. Nearly two-thirds of this amount, or $486 billion, went to Medicare, which provides health coverage to around 48 million people who are over the age of 65 or have disabilities.

The remainder of this category funds Medicaid and CHIP, which in a typical month in 2011 provided health care or long-term care to about 60 million low-income children, parents, elderly people, and people with disabilities. Both Medicaid and CHIP require matching payments from the states.

The Congressional Budget Office, says PAUL RYAN’s “Path to Prosperity” will convert the current Medicare program to a system under which beneficiaries would be entitled to premium support payments to help them purchase private health insurance. Those payments would grow over time with overall consumer prices. The change would apply to people turning 65 beginning in 2022; beneficiaries who turn 65 before then would remain in the traditional Medicare program, with the option of converting to the new system.

2011 Budget Pie

Convert the matching payments that the federal government makes to states for Medicaid costs under current law into block grants of fixed dollar amounts beginning in 2013. Those amounts would grow over time with overall consumer prices and the population.

Repeal the key provisions of the major 2010 health care legislation that deal with insurance coverage and certain other provisions..

BLACK HOLE #4 THAT’S SUCKING OUR TAX DOLLARS: Safety net programs: About 13 percent of the federal budget in 2011, or $466 billion, went to support programs that provide aid (other than health insurance or Social Security benefits) to individuals and families facing hardship. Spending on safety programs declined in both nominal and real terms between 2010 and 2011 as the economy continued to improve and initiatives funded by the 2009 Recovery Act began to expire.

These programs include: the refundable portion of the earned-income and child tax credits, which assist low- and moderate-income working families through the tax code; programs that provide cash payments to eligible individuals or households, including Supplemental Security Income for the elderly or disabled poor and unemployment insurance; various forms of in-kind assistance for low-income families and individuals, including food stamps, school meals, low-income housing assistance, child-care assistance, and assistance in meeting home energy bills; and various other programs such as those that aid abused and neglected children.

Ryan budget: Cut children’s health care, repeal Obamacare, LURE kids to land of NO Healthcare…

Such programs keep millions of people out of poverty each year. A Center analysis shows that government safety net programs kept some 25 million people out of poverty in 2010. Without any government income assistance, either from safety net programs or other income supports like Social Security, the poverty rate would have been nearly double in 2010 (28.6 rather than 15.5 percent).

In response to a request from House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, CBO has conducted a long-term analysis of a proposal to substantially change federal payments under the Medicare and Medicaid programs, eliminate the subsidies to be provided through new insurance exchanges under last years major health care legislation, leave Social Security as it would be under current law, and set paths for all other federal spending (excluding interest) and federal tax revenues at specified growth rates or percentages of gross domestic product (GDP).

Ryan budget DOUBLES spending on health care…for Seniors!

Long-Term Effects of the Proposal

Under the proposal, most elderly people who would be entitled to premium support payments would pay more for their health care than they would pay under the current Medicare system. For a typical 65-year-old with average health spending enrolled in a plan with benefits similar to those currently provided by Medicare, CBO estimated the beneficiarys spending on premiums and out-of-pocket expenditures as a share of a benchmark amount: what total health care spending would be if a private insurer covered the beneficiary. By 2030, the beneficiarys share would be 68 percent of that benchmark under the proposal, 25 percent under the extended-baseline scenario, and 30 percent under the alternative fiscal scenario.

Federal payments for Medicaid under the proposal would be substantially smaller than currently projected amounts. States would have additional flexibility to design and manage their Medicaid programs, and they might achieve greater efficiencies in the delivery of care than under current law. Even with additional flexibility, however, the large projected reduction in payments would probably require states to decrease payments to Medicaid providers, reduce eligibility for Medicaid, provide less extensive coverage to beneficiaries, or pay more themselves than would be the case under current law.

Path to Prosperity for WHOM?

Key Considerations

Under the proposal CBO analyzed, debt would eventually shrink relative to the size of the economy but the gradually increasing number of Medicare beneficiaries participating in the new premium support program would bear a much larger share of their health care costs than they would under the current program; payments to physicians and other providers for services provided under the traditional Medicare program would be restrained (as under the two scenarios); states would have to pay substantially more for their Medicaid programs or tightly constrain spending for those programs; and spending as a share of GDP for federal programs other than Social Security and the major health care programs would be reduced far below historical levels. It is unclear whether and how future lawmakers would address the pressures resulting from the long-term scenarios or the proposal.

When Mitt Romney introduced Paul Ryan as his running mate, he called Paul Ryan the: “intellectual leader of the Republican party”

Ryan said: “Our rights come from nature and God, not from government” and said this was what made America great…

According to Ryan: He and Romney are not planning to: “replace our founding principles – we will reapply them” That is CODE for what? Gay Rights roll backs, Abortion Rights roll backs, Affirmative Action roll-backs?

Be careful what you vote for – you’ll have to live with it for a long. long time!

The Dark Lord of Politics Is Back!

It’s POLITICS Season…and guess who’s cleaning his weapons?

“The Architect”

He who Must NOT be Named – Karl Rove, the Voldemort (Dark Lord in the Harry Potter books) of politics. And Rove is trying to ensnare you once again in his black magic.

Beware, if you fall within a category Republicans consider “mudbloods!” (wizards and witches who come from non-magical families.) Meaning to Republicans: Non-Anglos, Liberals, Gays, Hispanics, Blacks, Muslims, etc…).

Matt Latimer, a speechwriter to President George W.Bush describes Rove as: less a Voldemort who was “what all the liberals said he was, the villain.”

Rove sowed the seeds of the Divisive brand of politics we are reaping in America, today. I hold Rove responsible for 8 years of George Bush. Bush even described Rove as “The Architect” of his victory over John Kerry in the November 2004 presidential election.

Senator Phil Gramm, Texas: 1985 – 2002

To me, Rove is the reason so many people now dislike and distrust the Republican party. He’s the reason we got politicians like John Ashcroft and Phil Gramm.

What did Phil Gramm do? According to Wikipedia, Gramm: co-sponsored the Gramm-Latta Budget in 1981 which increased military spending, cut other spending, and mandated the Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981.

Included in the act was an across-the-board decrease in the marginal income tax rates in the U.S. by 23% over three years, with the top rate falling from 70% to 50% and the bottom rate dropping from 14% to 11%. This act slashed estate taxes and trimmed taxes paid by business corporations by $150 billion over a five-year period.

Rove is also the reason (again to me) that we now have the Tea Party. He’s the reason the Republican party is split to the point they can’t even accept their anointed candidate, despite the pretense of unity. Karl Rove is the reason American politics has become so nasty!

  • Rove was accused of being behind a phone poll called a “push-pull poll” that asked voters questions like: would people be “more or less likely to vote for the Democrat Governor Ann Richards of Texas if they knew her staff was dominated by lesbians? Rove naturally denied being involved in circulating these rumors about Richards during the campaign, although many critics nonetheless identify this technique, particularly as utilized in this instance against Richards, as a hallmark of his career.

  • One of the more notorious dirty tricks of which Rove is accused is the so-called “push-pull poll” conducted in South Carolina during the 2000 primaries, when George W. Bush and John McCain were vying for the Republican presidential nomination. The poll suggested that McCain, who has an adopted daughter from Bangladesh, had fathered an illegitimate child with a black woman. Rove denied having anything to do with it.
  • 1996 Harold See’s campaign for Associate Justice, Alabama Supreme Court. A former campaign worker charged that, at Rove’s urging, he distributed flyers that anonymously attacked See, his own client. This put the opponent’s campaign in an awkward position. If See’s opponent publicly denied the flyers, he’d be damned anyway. Guess who won? Rove’s client was elected.
  • In one campaign, a former Rove staffer reported that a whisper campaign alleging the opponent, a democrat, was a pedophile (a pedophile!?) started with Rove. But that could not be proved.
  •  In the 1986 Texas governor’s race, when the contest between Rove’s Republican client, Bill Clements, and the Democratic incumbent Mark White was neck and neck, Rove announced he had found an electronic listening device in his office, and cried foul. The furor swung the election to Clements and to this day Texan Democrats are convinced Rove concocted the whole episode.

Valerie Plame CIA scandal links

  • In July 2006, conservative columnist Robert Novak confirmed Rove leaked the name of CIA undercover agent, Valerie Plame Wilson. Plame was married to Joseph Wilson, a former ambassador who had questioned the Bush administration’s claims about Iraq’s alleged nuclear program. Rove allegedly told the journalists that Plame was “fair game” because her husband had gone public with his criticism.

This is documented online. In some cases, I quote passages in whole or in part…

How can any politician, Republican or Democrat, CONDONE this type of behavior? They do this ALL the time because YOU, voters, ALLOW this to go one. Once it’s your candidate who will benefit, you go along. Now see where it’s taken us. The good candidates run for cover and we get people like Mitt Romney who are willing to DO anything, SAY anything to win!

If Republicans (and ALL politicians) are smart – they will get RID of people like Carl Rove and aim for the moral high ground.

But Republicans won’t. Because these days it’s “Win at ANY Cost” no matter how high. I don’t know how many ethnic and social groups Republicans feel a need to antagonize but they are going for the record!

Ronald Reagan (left) debates Democrat Walter Mondale

BEFORE Karl Rove became “The Architect” of Republican politics, we had Ronald Reagan. During a 1984 presidential debate with Walter Mondale, Reagan said: “I want you to know that…I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent’s youth and inexperience.” Brilliant. But then Rove was NOT running Reagan’s campaign, though he did handle some mailings.

Ronald Reagan signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act in 1986. It, among other things, gave amnesty to about 3 million illegal immigrants who entered the United States before January 1, 1982. If Reagan ran for nomination today, the Tea Party would OPPOSE him. Imagine that!

Thank Karl Rove for the insidious destruction of the Republican Party. Republicans seem to attract, gather, collect, embrace these destructive forces and revolve in their orbit. The Karl Roves, the Rush Limbaughs, the Glen Becks, the Sarah Palins who have hijacked the Republican Party, but Republicans are too scared to depose these polarizing elements as their icons. What good is it doing for them except to make Republicans appear more and more extremist and out of touch?

Wolves in SHEEP clothing!

Sometimes I speculate the current crop of Republican politicians we have today are not real Republicans at all, just wolves in Republican clothing!

Until Republicans become strong, bold, mature, gutsy enough to say to these divisive elements within their party: “YOU do NOT represent ME!”...they may eke out a few more wins, but  I don’t see a rosy future. Maybe I’m the one with blinders!

We need a new, charismatic, yes a COOL republican to come along and rescue the Republican party – because America NEEDS two parties, two sane parties. (Democrats, you’re not off the hook, either.)

Can you imagine a Republican presidential candidate who will tell Rush Limbugh: “You may preach your hate-mongering and disharmony. If encouraging presidential failure and disdain for immigrants and various ethnic groups is your thing IT’S NOT MINE. So hear and know this: YOU do not speak for the Republican party and you especially DO NOT speak for me! You speak ONLY for you”.

Obama Cool! Karl Rove ad for Mitt Romney says Obama’s too cool. FAKE Romney better. How about Rove ditching his “cool” smartphone or laptop for a much more dated version? NO? So YOU like cool…?

A Republican Presidential candidate who will tell Carl Rove: “No thanks. I’ll find another person to advise my campaign.

It’s ONLY when Republicans get such a candidate that they will understand the concept of “cool”. UNTIL THEN, Republicans…NO THANKS.

In May 2008 the House Judiciary Committee subpoenaed Karl Rove to testify on the politicization of the Justice Department under George W. Bush.  The Bush Justice Department was accused of FIRING U.S. attorneys who refused to go after Democrats!  (NO concern for job losses, then.)

Lost White House e-mails, CIA leak scandal, Cheney adviser – Lewis “Scooter” Libby, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales resigns – one scandal after the other under Bush/Rove? In August 2007, Karl Rove resigned without responding to the Senate Judiciary Committee subpoena. Rove is running ads for Mitt Romney…

One of George W. Bush’s nicknames for KARL ROVE is “Turd Blossom”  a Texas term for a flower that blooms from cattle poo! That’s documented online too. Just follow your nose…

It’s Better Already – America!

Think of it…

Here is a “Flip-Flopping Right Wing Ideologue” (just quoting a TV pundit describing Mitt Romney) who appears to be the Republicans likely Heir…and you know, you KNOW, that many conservatives and Tea Partynistas are having a fit!

  • Want to know how conservatives really feel?

Rick Santorum (who’s scheduled to meet with Romney May 04) still cannot bring himself to say outright that he supports Romney, dancing around the issue in a CNN interview last night.

  • President George W. Bush made himself scarce when his dad, H.W. endorsed Romney. You got to hand it to W., he sticks to his guns…

So of course it’s already better…because they have a candidate they detest…and with reason, too.

Mitt Romney essentially declared VICTORY in the Republican Primary in New Hampshire last night (April 24)…even though there is still one candidate left in the race.

Imagine how you’d feel if YOU, as Newt Gingrich, watched Romney take the baton and fling it far over the finish line while you were still running!

Romney does appear to have the nomination sewn up. So he could have at least waited graciously for Gingrich to drop out or negotiated with him behind the scenes, BEFORE claiming victory. But Mitt Romney must be Mitt Romney. Muscle Gingrich out of the race. Crush the opponent with money, negative ads or a well-timed shove. Goodbye…

Gingrich is not feeling the love. He told ABC a couple of hours before Romney’s grand speech: “I think it’s a very substantial mistake for Governor Romney to be having, quote, ‘a general election’ speech…in New Hampshire. He’s the frontrunner but he’s not the nominee…I think it’s a little bit presumptuous. There’s a big difference between being the front-runner and being inevitable and I think he is mistaking the two.”

Gingrich will probably drop out under pressure – but, hey, let Republicans SORT their mess out.

  • Meantime, Romney last night said people’s hopes and dreams have been diminished by false promises and weak leadership.

As opposed to George Bush who gave America STRONG leadership? So strong, in fact, the joke going around said Dick Cheney was the one running the show. The puppet master who reportedly elbowed out level-headed people like Colin Powell because Powell warned about foreign intervention: If you break it, you own it. Is Joe Biden running the show? If he is, we’re not hearing about it…so that at least is a plus for Obama!

Was there any hope MORE false than: “Mission Accomplished”? or has Romney forgotten? Is that mission accomplished – and just WHAT was the mission again, candidate Romney?

  • Romney said: People are working harder for less.

OK Mr. Romney, I don’t know how many maids and housekeepers YOU have at all your houses. But let’s start with some of them. Charity, it’s said, begins at home – where the heart is! According to one online report, the Romney’s 2010 tax returns show his income was nearly 22 million, but he paid only 21-thousand-dollars in taxable wages for household help (to four women at ONE of the 3 homes they had) in 2010.

According to the source, the breakdown (rounded off): $5,000 for one woman, $9,000.00 another woman, $2,000.00 – third woman and $5,000.00 – fourth woman.

START the ball rolling by paying MORE.  I’m not judging you, Mr. Romney. Maybe these workers worked part-time or Mrs. Romney cleaned the house herself? We speculate because the Romney campaign declined to clarify…

All that aside, HAS ROMNEY TOLD YOU HOW he’s going to ensure that YOU work harder for MORE? Be sure he explains THAT to your satisfaction before you vote!

  • What else did he refer to? Single mom who feels heartbroken when she has to explain to her kids that she needs to take a second job…YES, indeed…like his wife. OH sorry, she’s NOT a single mom and I’ve already dealt with the “JOB” thing in a previous post: “Romney’s Back-Flip Flop on Work“. (You notice he did not use the term ‘work’?. He used job. Finally he gets it! But I’m sure he’ll tell you that his wife (with four helpers in one home) can sympathize with what we single moms who need 2 jobs go through.

And as for the mom and dad who never thought they’d be on food stamps — thank God Romney and Republicans DID NOT GET THEIR WAY to completely gut food stamp programs.

Just this month, Republicans pushed their BUDGET plan to CUT food stamps by $8 billion over the coming year and $34 billion over a decade. The average monthly benefit for a family of four is about $500…Democrats assailed the cuts, saying Republicans were targeting the poor while boosting the Pentagon budget above levels agreed to last summer.

(Read more:

Romney says he was successful in business…but he won’t also SAY he caused thousands of people to LOSE their jobs? That’s true too. Or does his Life Balance Sheet only show credits with NO debits?

He plans to get to know America’s families. He doesn’t KNOW you yet after spending much of his life in politics running for senator and governor and president? Introduce him to your gay partner and ask him why you don’t get to have the same rights he does – let him meet your illegal immigrant relative hiding in your house. Well, don’t…on second thought. Do offer him some Meat Loaf – press him to eat it. Watch him swallow. MAKE my day!!!

  • Do we pay less at the pump, now?

Do we? I recall gas prices were very high under George Bush, about $5.00 a gallon when people parked their gas guzzling SUV’s and you could not EVEN TRADE IT IN? And his wife still had her Cadillacs, I presume…Back when Bush was hobnobbing with Saudi royals, his dear friends who sell us the oil?

  • Easier to sell your home and buy a new one now?

It could have been, if Republicans had pushed for Oversight and REGULATED Wall Street and big banks. Republicans could have forced the issue. Then today we could say: They did try…let the records show. WHERE is their record?

  • Only in America could his dad, who grew up poor, and never graduated college, pursue his dreams and be successful. Check…

And ONLY in America could a black, black man from Africa marry a white, white woman, and have a mixed race skinny little kid with a funny name…(divorced parents, raised by grandmother). Only in America could that kid drag his way up to be president. Mate…

No Mr. Romney, we are NOT stupid, though YOU keep thinking that we are!

  • You will stop the unfairness of politicians giving taxpayer money to their friends businesses.

One word: HALLIBURTON. Does that ring a bell… Huge non-bid multi-million dollar contracts in Iraq? Dick Cheney…ting ting?

And above all, DON’T apologize to other nations for American wrongdoing. Not EVER. Not even when our soldiers go on killing sprees and brutally gun down innocent children. Just tell them to f— off.

Republican Rejects: YOU! Single Parents, Un-married, Gay!

Republican Hypocrisy...Could NOT state it better!

Why is it that Republicans, who love women so much, refuse to accept that families do not always fit their definition of June Cleaver* Ville bliss?

*(June Cleaver: Character from the U.S TV Sitcom: Leave it to Beaver. June and her husband are often upheld as the archetype of the 1950’s suburban parents.)

Why do Republicans believe that family issues don’t apply to unmarried women — or others?

I decided to check the meaning of “Family”. Here’s the Merriam-Webster online dictionary’s Definition of FAMILY:

1: a group of individuals living under one roof and usually under one head : household

2a : a group of persons of common ancestry : clan b : a people or group of peoples regarded as deriving from a common stock : race

3a : a group of people united by certain convictions or a common affiliation : fellowship b : the staff of a high official (as the President)

4: a group of things related by common characteristics: as a : a closely related series of elements or chemical compounds b : a group of soils with similar chemical and physical properties (as texture, pH, and mineral content) that comprise a category ranking above the series and below the subgroup in soil classification c : a group of related languages descended from a single ancestral language

5a : the basic unit in society traditionally consisting of two parents rearing their children; also : any of various social units differing from but regarded as equivalent to the traditional family <a single-parent family>b : spouse and children <want to spend more time with my family>

6a : a group of related plants or animals forming a category ranking above a genus and below an order and usually comprising several to many genera b in livestock breeding (1) : the descendants or line of a particular individual especially of some outstanding female (2): an identifiable strain within a breed

7: a set of curves or surfaces whose equations differ only in parameters

8: a unit of a crime syndicate (as the Mafia) operating within a geographical area.

Republican Family Ideal: Mother, Father, kids! What if family is Dysfunctional? So what? Dad is in the is in the home! Family - yea!!!!

Origin of the word FAMILY: late Middle English: from Latin familia ‘ household servants, household, family’, from famulus ‘servant’.

Neither Webster nor the Oxford dictionary mentions marriage as necessary to define a family.

REPUBLICANS, listen up! Family does not mean a married pair of heterosexuals with a HUSBAND and a WIFE and kids. It means a grouping of ANY of them. So where does your definition of family come from? The Bible? OK. But so does: Love thy neighbor, even though he is black or Hispanic!

I then checked some figures from the U.S CENSUS BUREAU. Unless Republicans think that gays somehow got into the Census database and corrupted the figures…?

Unmarried and Single Americans Week: Sept. 19 — 25, 2010

“National Singles Week” was started by the Buckeye Singles Council in Ohio in the 1980s to celebrate single life and recognize singles and their contributions to society. The week is now widely observed during the third full week of September (Sept. 19-25 in 2010) as “Unmarried and Single Americans Week,” an acknowledgment that many unmarried Americans do not identify with the word “single” because they are parents, have partners or are widowed. In this edition of Facts for Features, unmarried people include those who were never married, widowed, or divorced, unless otherwise noted.

Single Life

YOU don't count to Republicans...unless you find a wife!

Obviously Republicans have REJECTED these “non-traditional” families as unworthy sinners who do not conform and measure up to their lofty goals of marriages like the Romney’s.

They don’t SEE similar stability in the Obama’s marriage…they don’t SEE values and morals in the Obama marriage. When they look at single moms and dads struggling to raise their kids or take care of parents/loved ones or when they see gay couples or any other arrangement that is not their ideal, THEY DISMISS YOU AS  A BLIGHT ON THEIR ROSY UTOPIAN HOME-LIFE FAMILY SCENARIO.

Newt and latest wife number 3: Callista Gingrich

They are rejecting and have always rejected YOU as untouchable!

Are you going to vote for them?

Gingrich denies he callously told his sick wife in her hospital room while recovering from cancer treatments that he would be divorcing her. (Of course that is not true, it’s a rotten rumor. President Obama is a Muslim – now THAT is fact).

Gingrich’s first set of kids are no longer his family, I take it? Ah, never mind, he has repented. Took a trip to the Middle East, walked down the Jericho Road, saw a light…and voila! Mea culpa…

When a Republicans takes multiple wives, like Newt Gingrich, married 3 times, two discarded wives – or is that discarded families, HE IS FIT TO BE PRESIDENT! Gingrich married his second wife 6 months after his divorce from wife number one. Married his 3rd wife 4 months after divorce from wife number two. Can you keep up?

Hurry up, John Edwards – Jericho awaits!!!

(That 40-thousand-dollars a day it’s costing you, the taxpayer to provide Secret Service protection for Gingrich, could that perhaps keep several families from losing their homes?

If a family facing bankruptcy got 40-thousand-dollars to take to the bank, would that help? Help you? Think of how many days he’s been getting protection and ask yourself…? Well, choose your question. There are many…)

Romney’s Back-Flip…Flop…on “Work”

Not since President Clinton questioned the meaning of “is” — have I wondered what a simple word like work means. Until now!

What does WORK mean to the Romneys…and Republicans…?

Depends. If you live here…

Romney home (one of them) on Lake Winnepesaukee, New Hampshire

When you’re talking about Mitt Romney’s wife Ann Romney, it means STAYING HOME taking care of kids. Then it’s exceedingly hard work, too. So hard, in fact, that you cannot even drag yourself out of bed to go to an office and hold down a 9-5 job where you are expected to PLAY all day!

When it comes to Welfare Moms…WORK means STAYING HOME and playing so much that you then need to pack those easy going little darlings off somewhere and jog to a bus stop, transfer to another bus or a train then sprint to a 9-5 job where you KEEP YOUR NOSE TO THE GRIND – and WORK all day.

Public Housing, Boston

Didn’t I tell you…?

Mitt Romney loves women, especially poor women…and he wants them to work.

Meaning like his wife, he wants you to STAY home and raise your kids. Or does he? NO. Wait. He wants poor women to go to work…yes WORK! And no, NOT work in the way it applies to his wife where you stay home…!

You get it…? I know it would not be long before he put another one of his three Flip-Flop shod feet into his mouth!

Yes. He wants mothers on welfare to go to WORK.

But before they head off to WORK — let us look at a definition of WORK, as coming from the Republican Camp, from Ann Romney, from Michele Bachmann …

(There really is a GOD, you know. Even some of us non-Republicans have to believe — when we see some superior being raining well deserved justice down on Republicans).

Hillary Rosen

When Democratic strategist, Hilary Rosen (poor woman), said Ann Romney never worked a day in her life – we KNOW she meant never held a job in the rat race. We know Rosen was NOT referring to child rearing and raising a family.

In America when people ask you: Do you work? They’re not asking you if you stay home and take care of kids or a home. They want to know: Do you have a job where you leave your kids/home and engage in an activity for which you get a regular paycheck where some employer removes taxes and other deductions.

Maybe we should expand that to mean “Stay-Home Mom/Person” but chauvinistic beings that we are, we don’t. NOT YET!!!

Maybe taking care of kids and home SHOULD  be termed a full time job. Maybe the working spouse should come home, write the stay home partner a check, remove taxes etc and say: Honey, here is your salary. But so far, we’ve not reached that elevated state of thinking.

When the earning partner puts that money into a joint account or hands the stay home partner the check or whatever arrangement they have, that stay home person is essentially being paid for a job done. WE ALL KNOW THAT. I and many people DO NOT DISPUTE that child rearing is hard work.

I went/am going through it.

"Working" women!

But when someone asks me if I work, I know they’re not asking me if I take care of my son.

Ann Romney knew it. Rosen knew it. Democrats knew it. Republicans knew it. But again, given the Dumbing of America, the Fear Factor, the Pandering Factor, the Stupidity Factor, the Grandstanding Factor, the Divisive Factor, the Cult of Dissent for Political Gain Factor, the Romney Camp and Republicans saw an opening, AND THEY TOOK IT. Turns out it was a  Foxhole…and not the rabbit warren they thought it was with multiple exits!

See where it got them?

To Welfare moms…and to ALL OTHER MOMS WHO HAVE TWO JOBS by Republican definitions: Child Rearing and Office jobs.

So when I refer to “work” here, don’t give me any B.S about childcare – ’cause right now I have laundry waiting, and it’s not gonna do itself.  I’m referring to moms who take care of kids, and elderly parents and STILL MUST hold down a paying job…that brings a paycheck!

To moms who in addition to those 2 jobs (office and home)… ALSO hold a 3rd Part-time job too! They just thought they had two jobs until Ann Romney made them add childcare and now they realize they are holding 3 jobs! Yet they will NEVER experience the lifestyle of Mrs. Ann Romney with her ONE job!

So if Child Rearing is a full time job for Ann Romney…Why does Mitt Romney want to load poor moms with MORE work, like a job…a job as in outside the home — which his wife does not do? Why the discrepancy…?

So let’s see what Rosen said: “Ann Romney never worked a day in her life.” And she’s right. Ann Romney has not worked as we define work.

If Rosen had said: Parenting is not work, that would be different.

if Rosen had said: All Ann Romney has done is stay home and care for kids, thereby devaluing that contribution, this would be different. I won’t support any dismissal of the contribution made in the home.

Not easy - houseWORK!

Ann Romney is lucky and blessed to have a husband who can provide for her – and provide it in a harmonious setting. Many of us would want to be in a situation like Ann Romney. Her kids appear to be grounded, her husband appears to be content. I’ve NEVER heard even a hint of infidelity in that marriage (as compared to the Palin’s or Clinton’s). She appears to have done a great job in that regard. The only criticism I have against the Romney family is: Why did none of your sons join the army and fight for the country you love so much?

But then I don’t want my son in the army, either…especially when people like Dick Cheney and John McCain keep calling for war!

Rosen stated a fact, and because that fact was not convenient for some, THAT FACT became a non-fact…lost in “truthiness”.

(According to online encyclopedia, Wikipedia: Truthiness is a term coined by American television comedian Stephen Colbert. It’s a quality characterizing a “truth” that a person claims to know intuitively “from the gut” or because it “feels right” without regard to evidence, logic, intellectual examination, or facts.

BACK IN JANUARY, what did Romney say?: “Mothers on welfare need to go to work”? He wants mothers on welfare to go to work or lose their benefits. I don’t support welfare, which I think beats people DOWN. So I’m NOT against getting people off welfare. This is NOT the argument here. If Romney can get people off welfare, go Romney! Should have tried it here, in Massachusetts, but then if he HAD, he’d be disassociating with it now, anyway.

Epitome of the working woman! On stage and off...

If we play dumb like Romney and Republicans did on Rosen’s remarks, what does Romney mean? Seems his understanding of work appears to jive with that of Rosens – but GASP – that CANNOT BE!

So what does Romney mean again, by work?

Because after all the furor from his side, he cannot mean work, WORK? Can he? Because that would be a MAJOR Flip-flop…AGAIN!

Romney’s words:  “I wanted to increase the work requirement…that even if you have a child 2 years of age, you need to go to work…And people said, ‘Well that’s heartless’ (imagine people thinking something like that!)…and I said NO. No, I’m willing to spend more giving day care to allow parent to go back to work. It’ll cost the state more providing that day care, but I want individuals to have the dignity of work.”

“Dignity of work?”

Is Romney saying his wife is also lacking that “dignity” of work, since she is at home taking care of kids – or does that only apply to women on welfare?

Or do we just agree that Rosen was right – and allow this to go away?

Know what bugged me…?

How quick many Democrats were to rush to condemn Rosen. Doesn’t make you want to be a strategist for them, now does it? How about saying: “Hey. Time out! Rosen was NOT criticizing Ann Romney for staying home and raising her kids. She was just pointing out that Romney has not held a paying job in the rat race and so she doesn’t share the frustrations of those of us who have had to…”:

  • Get up early, VERY early, and wake and dress kids, feed them, pack lunches, head to a car, bus, train, with a stroller, and drop the kid off at Day Care
  • Scramble to find an alternative if there is an unforeseen circumstance at the Day Care, like a burst pipe in the winter…and the Day Care is closed?
  • At the end of the day, reverse the stress. Race to the bus/train to reach the Day Care BEFORE the time when they start charging you extra! Stand in the snow in an icy bust stop and wait for a bus that never comes because of the snow havoc?
  • Reach home late and still have to prepare dinner, get kids to bed, prepare for the next morning when your living hell of a life begins all over…

    Democrats Logo...

  • I’m not even going to get into budgets, shopping, doctor’s appointments, etc…

Did Democrats make those arguments in support of Rosen?

No – they threw her to the wolves. (Ms. Rosen – ssshhhh! Not worth it! Go Independent!)

That’s politics these day…every ship is a Titanic!!!

The Republicans “Dream” Nightmare!!!

2012. They will decide?

Ah yes! The DREAM ACT….

A BILL: To authorize the cancellation of removal and adjustment of status of certain alien students who are long-term United States residents and who entered the United States as children and for other purposes. (See Article before this, titled: The Dream Act)

Martin Luther King said: “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal…”

Back in December 2010, when Republicans rejected the Dream Act in the U.S. Senate they were riding an anti-illegal immigration surge within the Republican/Tea party.

Republicans were castigating and denigrating Hispanics. It didn’t even matter if these Hispanics were born in the USA! Long as you looked Hispanic – didn’t matter if you were from Texas. You needed to go back home – to Mexico!

Brewer's "heated discussion" with Pres. Obama

Arizona governor Jan Brewer was championing The Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act (introduced as Arizona Senate Bill 1070 or simply: Arizona SB 1070).

It aims to identify, prosecute and deport illegal immigrants. The Arizona law makes not carrying immigration documents a crime and gives police broad power to detain anyone suspected of being in the country illegally. The bill has been described as the broadest and strictest anti-illegal immigration measure in recent U.S. history.

Republicans were ecstatic!

Other states rushed to follow – passing crass measures that ended up costing farmers to lose millions as illegal immigrants told those states – “adios”, and headed, not South – elsewhere!

Tomatoes rotting on an Alabama farm after Immigrants left over Immigration crackdowns!

Eight months later, in December 2010, with a Senate mix of 57 Democrats, 41 Republicans and 2 Independents, Republicans shot the Dread Act down in flames.

Only FIVE Senate Republicans voted FOR the Dream Act. FOUR Senate Democrats, out of 56, voted AGAINST the Dream Act.

THEN along comes TIME Magazine with it’s left-wing article about Hispanics and their VOTING POWER. Have I said Ooops!!!

Not Voting – 1

Brownback (R-KS)

Republicans alienated Hispanics with their fiery and often divisive and misleading rhetoric, then thought they would easily cruise to a 2012  election Victory by courting to Tea Party voters!

To add insult to Hispanic injury,  just see who the Republican’s prospective nominee is likely to be…Mitt Romney! Romney loves Illegal Immigrants so much, when he was governor here in Massachusetts, he tried to get State Police to round up illegal immigrants! Do I hear DOUBLE oops, Mr. Romney!

“Mea culpa….Lo siento, por favor perdóname”

So if you were say, a Romney supporter like U.S. Senator Marco Rubio and you happened to be Hispanic and you needed to sort of pull Romney and Republicans from the edge of Immigration Infamy, maybe you start thinking of drafting a bill that would SHOW Hispanics that you’re not really an unfeeling robot – that you actually CARE?

Sen. Rubio does not Support Dream Act. Now Flip-Flopping, but again, he supports Mitt Romney!

In 2011, Republicans tried to cut  2-billion-dollars in  funding for Headstart,  the preschool program for poor children. And in 2012 Republicans tried to cut billions in funding for the Children’s Health Insurance (CHIP) But so what? They still LIKE kids, right?

How about giving kids of Illegal Immigrants a chance to Dream. What a brilliant, novel idea. And let’s call it the, er…Dream Act? Now why does that sound familiar? Never mind…

And so, Marco Rubio is drafting his version, or a Republican version, of the Dream Act…

As Illinois Congressman Luis Gutierrez put it, the Rubio bill allows certain young people to eventually earn legal status by attending certain four-year colleges or serving in the U.S. military. The proposal would bar these young people raised in the United States from ever becoming citizens. Similar restrictive or watered down proposals are said to be coming from Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas and Jon Kyl of Arizona (both of whom have supported the DREAM Act before now opposing it). Let’s call them collectively The ‘Stolen Dreams’ Act.

I can’t wait to hear Republicans defend their version of the bill because theirs DOES NOT allow these kids to EVER become citizens! So go FIGHT AND DIE for us – but we’ll bury you in a Mexican flag!

You know what, serves President Obama right!

I’ve always maintained that he squandered his social capital on shoddy Health Care Reform when he should instead have gone for IMMIGRATION REFORM.

Pro Dream Act Rally

I believe strongly that if he’d gone for Immigration Reform, The Supreme Court would NOT have him over a barrel today…Hispanics would still be chanting: “si, se puede”, he WOULD NOT HAVE LOST the mid-term elections and millions of people would be out of the shadows buying houses, staring businesses, buying Insurance, travelling on airlines, buying vehicles, etc…

But that’s just me!!!

“With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.” Dr. King.

What if Trayvon Martin was White…

Hypocrisy of Race in America!

Police are NOT the only people who stereotype other people – especially young black boys.

I stereotype young black males…the ones who dress like morons, pants under their butts, waddling around mouthing swear-words and ready to fight at the drop of a sneaker!

Why do we dress like this? Remind me...

Are you hypocritical enough to tell me, YOU, average black person in the inner city, do not feel threatened or turned off by these no-home-training black kids in your neighborhood…and I will tell you “you lie” ’cause I live in the hood too.

I also stereotype young White boys in the Irish neighborhood of South Boston where I live (a neighborhood that was once a battleground of racial strife in Boston). If I’m walking late at night (as I write this in 2012), and I see a group of young white kids, I go on full alert. But I suppose that’s OK, because these kids are White! So of course I can stereotype them! Even if most of them couldn’t be bothered with race!

We stereotype Muslims. I started thinking, recently. What if I’m on an airplane and two Muslims sit next to me and start speaking in Arabic? I’m not going to be hypocritical. I would be relieved like hell when that plane lands safely – even though maybe I should have been more scared of my Christian pilot or air hostess. (Off their meds, are we being told, to account for two separate instances of a pilot and stewardess going berserk in the air? Of course!)

Ask Jay-Z WHY he's dressed like this...? Why isn't he wearing his pants below his butt here...?

That’s how stereotypes go. Stereotypes don’t only go by race. Stereotypes go by groups. How many of you think Pole Dancers and Strippers are dumb bottom-dwellers who cannot get regular jobs doing anything else? I watched a pole dancer (she’s not black) demonstrate her craft and I went “gosh, I wish I could do that! Wow! OMG! And she has a doctorate in Medieval History or something like that. She did her dissertation on something to do with Popes! Yet she CHOSE to be a pole dancer. Now, introduce her to you as a pole dancer and you go what…in your head? Do YOU have a doctorate – or even a Masters Degree?

Did you see in the news about that Houston Chronicle journalist (and Houston University lecturer) who earned on average about 2-thousand-dollars a night as a stripper? Seems to me I should be a stripper. I could do with that kind of money! A rival newspaper outed her! Yes, stereotypes indeed! Not all strippers are like those in the Duke Lacrosse scandal!!!

Now, every Prominent Black Person Is Concerned With The Status Of Young Black Boys!!! Yeah!

We are really concerned about young black boys. Um-hmn!

My son is a young black boy. My son wears hoodies. My son goes to an Exam School. My son lives with me in the hood. (Yes, we actually LIVE among young black kids, but what do we know about young black kids? Not as much as those people on TV, obviously, many of whom would not even know which train or bus goes to the inner city). So now, all of a sudden, just by being a young black male – EVERYBODY cares about my son. Hypocrites!

My son is around Trayvon Martin’s age, the young murdered Florida teen who’s now the current face of Racial Insanity in America. Yeah, such cases pop up every now and then to allow us to bloviate about racial inequality. This allows us to later run back into our fox holes and hibernate until the next case comes along…so we can pretend we are actually doing something about racial inequality!

Black college kids - with their heads on right!

So you care so much about young Black Males like my son? I guess that’s why when I tried, desperately (and with NO success, of course) to secure funding to pay for my son, (again, a young black male) to get afterschool sports coaching at a private Sports Club so he can improve his game and chance of getting a Sports Scholarship – EVERYBODY I APPROACHED OR EMAILED – turned me down!

If I’d known, I’d have arranged for a white police friend of mine to shoot my black son (yeah, I care, so I’d ask the cop to shoot my son in his leg). White cop, black kid always brings the most attention! But back then, when I was looking for funding (around February 2012 when Trayvon Martin got shot) I didn’t know. I didn’t realize that the ONLY time America is interested in the welfare of Young Black Males is when they get shot. But now I know. And readers are on notice…’cause I have a plan brewing on how to get a college scholarship for my son!

Yeah. Dress him in a hoody. Send him into a white neighborhood. Hope the shot misses. Cause that’s a better way to get the nation’s attention than any plea for scholarships will ever get! And that holds true whether I write to Oprah or Warren Buffet. Somebody in their organization will read the letter and both will turn me down! ‘Cause they don’t deal with individuals. Until said individual gets shot. Then everybody has an opinion. But when you COULD help, you didn’t! So what are you talking about?

Seems to me that funding a sports/literacy program for kids on the ground can change lives too. It’s not always about making a media-grabbing multi-million dollar donation to some big, well established charity. There are millions of Young Black Males who fall by the wayside for less than the price of a new pair of shoes for some people. Because these kids’ families cannot afford to pay $100 to join a sports team – or spend 25 dollars to buy a transit pass so the kid can access a FREE program in another neighborhood. Which charity funds that? You want to make a difference, e-mail me. Let’s start something in MY development, ’cause I’m not seeing much of that charitable donation trickling down around here…

When I approached some of the wealthiest Bostonians to get funding for my son to do the sports program, (people whose net worth run into the billions and multi-millions) to see if one of them would sponsor my son, (again, a young black male that we care so much about), I WAS REJECTED. They didn’t even arrange for someone to meet with me or my son OR check any of the school (sports teacher) and Sports Club (coach) references I sent to establish my bona fides.

Here is one response:

Dear (my name)

Thank you for contacting the (name of company) with your charitable donation request for support of the 10th grade student at (school).

Supporting community and non-profit organizations is important to us, and we personally review all requests as they are received.  We believe that charitable giving is a critical component of our business and each request is important to us.

As you can well imagine, we receive thousands of requests each year.  While we do our best to evaluate them to help and support as many organizations and individuals as possible, we unfortunately cannot fulfill the needs of every request we receive.

Please know that, while we regretfully cannot fulfill your request at this time, we wish you the best.

Yeah, thanks. My son and I are grateful for your best. That will really pay for sports instruction for my son, who’s showing some promise in his sport. That’s when I started understanding what being in the 99-percent really feels like, because the billionaire I wrote to likely spends more on drinks in one month than the money I needed to cover a year of sports instruction for my son!

Way to care about young black males!  So I believe few of you pontificating now over Trayvon Martin give a damn. This is just another opportunity to puff yourselves up and bask under fifteen frames of the spotlight.

Why don’t YOU put your MONEY and your TIME  where your darned mouth is? If every single one of you now posturing mentored a black kid, helped with homework, worked to build a black kid’s literacy skills, math skills or took him to a ball game, listened to the kid’s dreams/hopes/problems, etc…you’d achieve a lot MORE that the BS you’re spouting now.

Yes. That's Boston Celtics Basketball star Paul Pierce (black Tee among those kids. He's very involved in community. Good for you, Paul and thanks!!!

And you, ALL THE BLACK TALKING HEADS – are YOU mentoring any young black males? Are YOU involved with any inner city programs either by fundraising or giving your time/support? Have you started a Foundation to help young black males achieve? Why not, since you care so much? Why am I seeing so many of these programs being run and funded by white people? Where the hell are you?

I interact everyday with some of these young black males you are defending. Come live next door and see how long you will keep defending them? Why don’t you come live here? What you’ll quickly want to do is run away – get the hell out. Who the heck are you blaming for the way these kids are turning out? Instead of fixing the problems through a one-on-one basis, there you are, eons away from reality, talking about the police…and how they shoot young black men.

I just heard one black talk show host tell another black journalist on TV: “At the end of the day, I want my son to come home alive…” Apparently the rest of us want our sons to come home dead! Do we really believe that MORE young black males die at the hands of cops/vigilantes than at the hands of OTHER young black males?

The March 2012 verdict in a 2010 Boston murder case involving the  “execution style” shooting deaths of 4 people during what police call a drug robbery sent shockwaves through Boston. Victims: 2 black males aged 21 and 22. One black female aged 21. One black male: aged just 2 years old (shot in mother’s arms). Fifth victim, black male, 32: paralyzed. (I don’t see concerned people rushing to pay for his care.)

The victims were shot by 2 black males (ages 34 and 32). Imagine if they’d been shot by police!? Nine charges. 4 counts of first-degree murder plus home invasion, armed robbery, assault with intent to murder, assault and battery and firearm possession. The jury was deadlocked. One of the alleged killers walked free…the other is facing retrial. No big deal, right! Just another shooting in the hood…

2 year-old victim, Amani Smith

Notice how, with the exception of some Sports Stars and Actors, the MAJORITY of black professionals stay AWAY from the inner city, especially the ones who make it and decide to get out? They never return, never look back. Now they’re on TV talking about Trayvon Martin! Shut up…

If you don’t want to come back, OK. It’s tough out there in the inner city. And not only for pimps..(like one rapper says in his song.)

But are YOU donating to programs that work to keep inner city kids off the streets? Have YOU  started one yourself? Can YOU at least sponsor one kid – work through a Boys and Girls Club or YMCA/YWCA and PAY for a membership for some kid whose parent(s) can’t afford it? I guess that would be too easy – too sensible – too lacking in visibility? Approach these talking heads about sponsoring one of the very kids they care so much about and they brush you off! Yeah, put your money where your misguided mouth is! Or is ALL you do just freakin’ talk?

We make our kids think the police is the enemy when the drug dealers and gun runners and felons peddling stolen goods around the corner are our real enemies. Yet we protect them by not snitchin’ and mouth off to police. Then we turn around and wonder why we’re riddled with crime.

In Boston, we’ve not had any vigilantes or cops kill young black males in 2012 or 2011 (that I can recall). Do you wanna know how many young black males died in Boston during that time frame? Do you know who’s killing them? OTHER young black males. You’re so concerned about the one – how about the dozens? Are their deaths less or more acceptable – because they were killed by PEOPLE WITH THE SAME SKIN COLOR?

January 1st – March 25th, 2011 vs 2012 (Boston Police Department/Regional Intelligence Center 3/26/2012)

As a mother of a black kid, I don’t tell my son that he will be treated differently because he’s black. Whatever his color, he WILL be treated differently in some situation or the other. I give him commonsense advice that applies to EVERYBODY across the board, regardless of race.

Do NOT talk back to police. Whatever they ask you to do: Get on the ground, put your hands up:  DO IT! Address cop as Sir or Ma’am. Do not walk towards cops with your hands in your pockets or in a bag. If I was a cop and you were coming towards me with your hands fumbling where I can’t see what you’re doing, I’d be ready to shoot you – and I would not care if you were purple!

Now my son, who is black – remember that, HE is black – has never been stopped by police. And part of that is because HE DOES NOT PUT HIMSELF IN SITUATIONS WHERE HE’S LIKELY TO BE STOPPED BY POLICE. And also because I’ve told him: “If you put yourself in a situation where the police pick you up because you were with other kids who were into nonsense like shoplifting or graffiti spraying, etc – while other parents rush to the station to bail out their kids, when the cops call me, I WILL LEAVE YOU IN THERE! I’ll tell the cops: “Make his life as miserable as you can make it and let him stay in there for a few days“. And my son knows that I will do it, too.

So… if Trayvon Martin was my son, none of this circus would be happening: ’cause I’d hold a press conference and say, very clearly: “Go home. Let the Grand Jury do its job. Thank you very much for your support.” And I hope I would NOT be trade marking slogans involving my dead son.

Finally, If Trayvon Martin was white…would Al Sharpton care? How many of the blacks we see on TV would care?

Al Sharpton addresses Trayvon Martin rally. Sanford, Florida.

I’d care. And I hope everybody would care the same way. But sadly, many black people would not care. The rallies would be largely white, with a black face or two.

When we learn to CARE across the board, when we see a KID WHO IS SHOT, not a black kid or a white kid or an Asian kid or a Hispanic kid – just a kid being shot in suspicious circumstances — when we tackle INJUSTICE, whatever it’s color — THEN, and only then, will our protestations move from the production stage…to onstage.

And THAT, to me, is JUST AS TROUBLING, IF NOT MORE SO — than the death of Trevon Martin!

(Everything I said above refers equally to non-black POOR or other kids – and even to some rich kids too…’cause some of these rich kids need MORE mentoring that poor kids. America wake up – AND PROTECT ALL YOUR KIDS!)
