Immigration Reform is finally here… Yeah!!!

Eight bi-partisan U.S Senators (Democrats: Charles Schumer of New York, Dick Durbin of Illinois, Robert Menendez of New Jersey and Michael Bennet of Colorado; and Republicans John McCain of Arizona, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Marco Rubio of Florida and Jeff Flake of Arizona) have taken the FIRST STEP.

“We recognize that our immigration system is broken. And while border security has improved significantly over the last two Administrations, we still don’t have a functioning immigration system. This has created a situation where up to 11 million undocumented immigrants are living in the shadows.

ice3

Our legislation acknowledges these realities by finally committing the resources needed to secure the border, modernize and streamline our current legal immigration system, while creating a tough but fair legalization program for individuals who are currently here. We will ensure that this is a successful permanent reform to our immigration system that will not need to be revisited.”

President Obama is already taking STEP TWO. He will lay out HIS vision for Immigration Reform in Nevada on Tuesday (1/29/2013) – and it is reportedly similar to the Senate version.

ice

Undocumented Immigrants are looking for:

  • A SOCIAL SECURITY  NUMBER: Front burner with the flame on HIGH.
  • A WORK PERMIT:  Front burner with the flame on HIGH.
  • GREEN CARD: Front burner with the flame on HIGH.
  • CITIZENSHIP? Back burner – flame not even on!

The “Pathway to Citizenship” is clear and simple. CITIZENSHIP is a manufactured issue Republicans use to crush Immigration Reform. ANY failure to pass Immigration Reform must be laid at the Republican’s doorstep! And if they sabotage it THIS  time, come next election, they will be made to understand that 100 seats in the House of Representatives does NOT move their agenda forward!

iceThere’s NO need to make Citizenship an issue, because U.S. Immigration laws ALREADY set out the guidelines for applying for Citizenship.

Click HERE or go to: http://www.uscis.gov/USCIS/Resources/Citizenship%20&%20Naturalization%20Based%20Resources/A%20Guide%20to%20Naturalization/PDFs/M-480.pdf

Fix it so Undocumented Immigrants can apply for a Social Security Number, a Work Permit and a Green Card. Then those who can meet the guidelines laid out for Citizenship will apply when the time comes – like everyone else! Not at the front of the line – or back of the line – or cutting in line. Just when they, like everyone else, can afford the fees, meet the requirements and feel they can pass the test…or feel that it is time! then they get a lawyer and start the process. Yes, just like that!

Guidelines state U.S Citizenship applicants (with a few exceptions for people with Armed Forces connections) MUST:

ice6

  1. Be 18 years and over.
  2. Be a Permanent Resident/Issued with a Green Card.
  3. Have lived CONTINUOUSLY in America for 5-years (3-years in some cases)
  4. Have NOT been out of the U.S. for 30 months or more.
  5. Have NOT traveled out of the country on trips longer than a year (during last 5-years (3-years in some cases).
  6. Resided in the State/District in which the applicant is applying for Citizenship
  7. Can read, write, speak basic English.
  8. Know the fundamentals of U.S History/Government. (In other words, applicant must PASS the Citizenship Test).ice10
  9. Applicant must demonstrate Good Moral Character.
  10. Undocumented immigrants may run into issues HERE with adjusting of Status AND THIS MAY BE THE ONLY AREA THAT CONGRESS MAY NEED TO ADDRESS FOR UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.
  11. Never deserted from the U.S. Army.
  12. Never received, from the U.S Army, an exemption/discharge for not being a citizen.
  13. Pledge to serve in the U.S military if it is mandated by law.
  14. Support the U.S. Constitution.
  15. Willing to take the Oath Of Allegiance to the U.S.

ice1

THAT’S IT. Where is the big ring-ding? Seems the ONLY area that needs some tweaking is #10 of the U.S. Citizenship REQUIREMENTS which deals with ADJUSTING the applicant’s status. Being in the U.S. illegally can interfere with applying for citizenship. Congress can address that easily by allowing Undocumented Immigrants who were in the country BEFORE THE DATE ANY IMMIGRATION REFORM LAW PASSES or whatever the cut-off point is – to easily apply for a waiver or whatever process they decide. END OF STORY.

The important part is LEGALIZING people so they can come out of the shadows and join the mainstream. This includes applying for Citizenship down the road, IF they meet the requirements.

ice8

Congress, President Obama – please DO NOT GET BOGGED DOWN IN A CITIZENSHIP QUAGMIRE. You won’t meet many Undocumented Immigrants who will GIVE UP the chance for Legalization because of a disagreement over Citizenship! People wan to work and live without fear – citizenship will come later.

Two-time Presidential candidate, Republican Newt Gingrich is blasting former rival Mitt Romney (his party’s nominee for the 2012 Presidential election) and the party’s overly conservative policies as the GOP’s 2012 curse.

“When I said as a candidate we’re not going to deport a grandmother if she’s been here 25 years, we had a nominee who said yes, we would, that she would self-deport…I think at that point we lost Asians, we lost Latinos. You can’t lose Asians, Latinos, African Americans and young people, and think you’re going to be competitive.

ice9

Hard-line Tea Party obstructionists are no doubt girding their loins for battle. But obstructionists could not STOP blacks from getting their freedom, or STOP women from getting the vote, or STOP interracial marriages OR stop abortion rights or STOP gays from getting married or STOP blacks from joining the military or STOP women from joining the military or STOP gays from serving openly in the military – AND THEY WON’T STOP IMMIGRATION REFORM EITHER!

I suspect Hard-line Tea Party obstructionists in Congress and their supporters will not find the usual “loud mouthed” response from many of their former cheerleaders. They can hold on to their rigid ideology – but they will end up facing extinction in a Congress dominated by Democrats.

ice7

The “FOUR PILLARS” of Immigration Reform:

  1. Create a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants already here, contingent upon securing the border and better tracking of people here on visas.
  2. Reform the legal immigration system, including awarding green cards to immigrants who obtain advanced degrees in science, math, technology or engineering from an American university.
  3. Create an effective employment verification system to ensure that employers do not hire illegal immigrants.
  4. Allow more low-skill workers into the country and allowing employers to hire immigrants if they can demonstrate they couldn’t recruit a U.S. citizen; and establishing an agricultural worker program.

Immigration Reform: ALL ABOARD – Rubio! O’Reilly!? What the…

usflagThis would NOT be America if we were not back rehashing an issue of MAJOR national significance that should have been settled long, long ago…

…like the “Fiscal Cliff” which turned out to be more of a bungee jump. And Gun Control.  Is Health Care Reform making a comeback – or do we leave that for the next Administration? Medicare and Social Security? Those hot potatoes will continue to be kicked down the road until the road ends at some yet to be named cliff.

And of course the “Debt Ceiling” where you’re never told which floor you’re standing on! Are we in the basement aiming for the ceiling in the 10th floor? Or are we already in the Penthouse?

The Fiscal Cliff

The Fiscal Cliff

“Well class, what is it we’re pulling out of the freezer and putting back in the microwave? Yes Maureen, you have your hand up? Do you know what we’re defrosting today?

Yes, miss Conlibe: “Immigration Reform.”

“Correct, but how did you know!”

” My mom is undocumented, miss, and my brother and sister are “Dream Kids” but I was born here in America.

“Oohhh…I see. Well…”

Indeed, well – WHAT…?

Can we please stop fooling around and FOCUS on IMMIGRATION REFORM? Or shall we find yet another reason to push it to the background – AGAIN?

First it was the Fiscal Cliff and then it was guns. WELL… guns are out of the way, if you buy into the National Rifle Association (NRA) argument that the violence in America is NOT caused by guns. Blame video games. And Hollywood movies. And mental health issues – which no other country has except America. The video games in Japan feature Tom and Jerry. The action movies in China are all Musicals and nobody in Canada has mental issues.

Sense

Here’s something else the U.S government is not telling you – WILL NEVER TELL YOU, BECAUSE it is a TOP secret. But I KNOW. (Remember, I was the person who first told you about another TOP government secret involving President Obama’s birth certificate – the REAL one. Was it not I who found out that documents proving that President Obama is an alien are being kept in a super secret bunker under Hawaii’s Mount Kilauea?)

Well here’s more classified information: It seems Americans have a “Convict Genome” which only manifests itself IN America.

The mutation was engineered by scientists in England in the early 1600’s during tests on convicts at Newgate prison. The British, being the wily savants they are, shipped all these mutated folks to America to “settle the colonies.” (Australia got the subjects who were given placebos. The Brits did not want to take any chances, so they separated the two control groups and surreptitiously continued to monitor them for generations!)

Nunchaku (Nunchuck): Traditional Japanese/Okinawan weapon

Nunchaku (Nunchuck): Traditional Japanese/Okinawan weapon

Stop and THINK about it…about what would happen if Americans access to guns is limited, like in Canada, say…or Japan.

We’d be walking around all “violented” up from video games and action movies with NO guns to act out our “violentness”. Here we’d be – thumbs itching to shoot something – and all we’d have are nunchucks. Oh the mass horror!

But let us talk Immigration Reform…and here we are, back to Square One. Again. 6-years (June 2007) after President Bush and the now late Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) tried to bring about some measure of Immigration Reform – a bill that thanks to Republicans, crashed and burnt in the U.S. Senate, yes HERE WE ARE! Seeing all the reasons why it is GOOD now but was BAD then!

President George W. Bush ran into fierce opposition from his fellow Republicans in both the House and Senate. Republicans back then called the bill Amnesty that rewarded illegal immigrants.

Today, look whooo’s scrabbling to get on the Immigration Reform bandwagon? Republicans! Why? Demographics and voting blocs. Darn. Majority, unlike Compromise, has become THE wo-on-derful word of the second term that Republicans could not prevent!

Republican Sen. Marco Rubio (FL) is calling on his fellow Republicans to support a plan that would give undocumented immigrants legal status and an eventual path to citizenship provided they meet certain  criteria like paying taxes, background checks etc…

rubio

(Hey Governor Romney – why did you choose Paul Ryan as your running mate instead of Rubio? Never mind. So glad you did). Latinos put President Obama on top in Florida, so with a heavily Hispanic constituency Rubio is bowing with the wind direction. But get this: Fox TV host Bill O’Reilly is also joining the list of conservative pundits jumping on the immigration reform bandwagon…and calling Rubio’s plan, WHICH IS SIMILAR TO ONE PROPOSED BY PRESIDENT OBAMA: “reasonable.”

The VERY SAME Bill O’Reilly who blamed Undocumented Immigrants for drunk driving deaths, the same Fox News that has led the charge against Immigration Reform – is now pushing FOR Immigration Reform. Halleluiah! Every politician and political interest loves Hispanics now!

Kennedy-McCain

Senators John M Cain AZ) (front) and Ted Kennedy (MA) introduced the “Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act” of 2005 – back when McCain supported Immigration reform, before he was against it. Is he FOR it again, now…?

Among them, former Secretary of Commerce (George W. Bush) and Mitt Romney adviser, Carlos Gutierrez, U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Tom Donohue, Indiana Attorney General Gregory Zoeller, Barrett Duke of the Southern Baptist Convention, Johnny Young of the Conference of Catholic Bishops and Rosario Marin who served as US Treasurer under President George W. Bush.

DO YOU SUPPORT IMMIGRATION REFORM? Join the petition. Let REPUBLICANS in the U.S. House of Representatives KNOW you support President Obama’s plan to: REFORM IMMIGRATION NOW.

Immigrant

Immigration Reform is long, LONG overdue. NOT because Hispanics make up a large and decisive voting bloc but because it is the right thing to do.

I have argued FOR Immigration reform in earlier posts.

An estimated 6-million kids in this country have at least ONE parent who is Undocumented. Florida alone has nearly 2-million kids who are Undocumented Immigrants. US Citizenship and Immigration Services, (USCIS) says (by the end of 2012) 368-thousand Undocumented “Dream Kids” had applied for “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals” after the Obama Administration opened the program in August 2012.

Applications are coming in at about 5-thousand per day – yet advocates say just a fraction of the millions of eligible Undocumented Immigrant youth are applying to the program. At $465 per application, the US Treasury has (as of Dec 2012) raked in $171-million from that ONE program alone.

Imagine what will happen with Adult applicants! I think the Federal Government should hand this money over to the States…

Lining up to apply for Deferred Action in Los Angeles, CA. Reuters/Jonathan Alcorn

Dream Kids line up to apply for Deferred Action in Los Angeles, CA.

America – yes IT IS TIME. Time to free a large section of the populace who live in the shadows. Time to free thousands upon thousands of bright immigrant kids who are waiting for a chance at the American Dream. Time to unleash the vast, untapped power of 14-million consumers who will be proud and free to buy cars, houses, open businesses, travel/take vacations, book airline seats, rent vehicles and pump money into the economy because they will now be able to work and spend money openly and legally.

ALL CONGRESS IS CALLED UPON TO DO IS THIS: Allow Undocumented Immigrants to apply for a Green Card, Work Authorization and Social Security Number. THAT’S ALL YOU NEED TO DO, CONGRESS.

Don’t worry about Citizenship. THAT is already spelled out in AMERICA’S Immigration Laws (below). Those who qualify will apply, SIMPLE. There is NO reason to make the easy difficult.

US Citizenship Eligibility Requirements

To be able to apply for citizenship through naturalization, you have to meet the following requirements. You should:

  • Be 18 years of age or above.
  • A lawful permanent resident for 5 years (3 years if married to a US citizen).
  • Have maintained continuous residence during the past 5 years (3 years if married to a US citizen).
  • Have maintained physical presence during the past 5 years (3 years if married to a US citizen).
  • Have good moral character.
  • Have basic knowledge of English.
  • Have basic knowledge of US government and history.
  • Be willing to take the Oath of Allegiance.

What is the issue? It’s ALREADY spelled out…

And don’t give me this nonsensical argument about people who are waiting in their foreign countries while their lawful relatives file for them. Boo hoo! Most Undocumented Immigrants are young healthy workers who come here to work, not elderly parents being sponsored for healthcare reasons.

Just because a prospective immigrant waiting in his/her foreign country has a relative in America, THAT does NOT give that person more of a RIGHT to be here than the person WHO IS ALREADY HERE, who’s already self-sufficient, can get around, has built a life, learnt the language, knows the ropes and in most cases, IS ALREADY CONTRIBUTING TO THE ECONOMY.

(And NO, I’m NOT saying people waiting to come here legally should lose out either. Both categories can co-exist.)

More Republican Hypocrisy: Solindra and Schilling…

Does the name Solyndra – mean anything to you?

Solar panels

It’s the California Solar Company that got huge government subsidies (a 535 million-dollar loan guarantee) from Stimulus Funds in 2009. Solyndra went bankrupt in 2011 and laid off about 11-hundred employees.

President Obama praised the solar panel maker as a model of Green Energy and when it failed, “The Party of NO” started thumping their chests!

Republicans roared:

Florida Representative Cliff Stearns, head of the subcommittee on oversight and investigations for the Energy and Commerce committee said: “In an apparent rush to push stimulus dollars out the door, the Obama Administration wasted $535 million in taxpayer funds in guaranteeing a loan to a firm that has proven to be unviable in the global market.”*

Republican members of the committee churned out a subpoena to get documents from the Office of Management and Budget over the Department of Energy loan.

According to a Forbes article, only this week, Republicans tried to create another Solyndra-type furor over two other solar companies: Bright source Energy (apparently used insiders to get its loan guarantees) and First Solar (whose CEO cashed nearly half-a-million-dollars of his shares while taking public money).

Ohio Republican, Jim Jordan. OUTRAGED over solar companies mismanagement…

Republicans scheduled a hearing of a subcommittee of the Committee on Government Oversight and Reform that oversees the stimulus program. Subcommittee chair, Republican Jim Jordan of Ohio opened the hearing with a withering attack on clean tech companies that seek government assistance.

Republicans DON’T like Clean Energy. The very same subsidies they decry for Solar companies they champion and embrace for big oil, gas and coal companies! Maybe solar companies don’t have deep enough pockets – or lobbyists – or PAC’s – who can fund GOP campaigns and travel?

Fast Forward to this week…

To Curt Schilling.

Name mean anything to you?

He’s a former ace pitcher for the Boston Red Sox who helped the team break its cursed losing streak…in 2004.

Schilling, whom many consider to be a jerk, developed near cult status in Boston. Until he moved from sports icon to political champion – and started campaigning for John McCain! Before you know it, people are speculating about “Curt Schilling for Senate” to fill Ted Kennedy’s vacant seat…

We escaped a Senator Schilling, thank goodness!

Curt Schilling: Pitcher, politician, entrepreneur….

Mr. Schilling started a Video Game company: 38 Studios in 2006. Being a Republican, and seeing that they’re ALL born holding a copy of NAFTA rules and regulations (they being natural businessmen) His 38-ness declared: I understand one thing, that’s big business, and big business is what we’ve allowed to take over in far too many places and in far too many areas that the people need to take back” and he proceeded to do that by establishing a small business.

Mr. Schilling then decided that he needed government subsidies – taxpayer subsidies (like those the department of Energy gave to Solyndra) for his company and decided to play a game of  “my ego or yours” with lawmakers.

President Obama…with best buddy, MA Governor Deval Patrick (Democrat)

In 2010, he threatened to move his 4-year-old company to neighboring Rhode Island. The Ocean State was offering Schilling’s company $75 million in loan guarantees. Schilling pledged to bring 450 new jobs to Rhode Island over the next three years. He of course preferred to STAY in liberal Massachusetts but would Massachusetts play ball?

Schilling loaded the bases, confident in his ability to throw a strike. Massachusetts lawmakers told him to: walk!

Have I mentioned that our governor Deval Patrick is a loyal Obama friend and colleague, who, like the president, is also from Chicago?

  • Did I say that Curt Schilling supported Republican Charlie Baker (against Deval Patrick) for governor in 2010?
  • And that Schilling contributed to Republicans John McCain and Sarah Palin in their 2008 presidential bid against Obama?

Naturally none of that factored into any decisions…of course.

Greg Bialecki, Massachusetts secretary of housing and economic development, said: Schilling apparently hoped his discussions with Rhode Island officials would goad Massachusetts into making him a better offer. Although Bialecki said he had discussed possible tax breaks with Schilling earlier this year, in the end Massachusetts was unwilling to offer such a big incentive package to one company.

Schilling took off, went to Rhode Island…with the following conditions:

  • 38 Studios must pay $8 million in annual fees to the economic development agency over the 10-year life of the loan.
  • The company must create 450 new jobs in stages over three years
  • 38 Studios pays a penalty of $7,500 per year for each job it fails to create on schedule.
  • The company must pay Rhode Island an annual ‘guaranty fee’ each May.

In addition:

  • Loan comes from lending institutions, not the state, BUT Rhode Island taxpayers are stuck with the unpaid balance of the loan if 38 Studios fails.
  • The state gets first rights to all of the company’s collateral, including intellectual property rights to any 38 Studios games. (The company unveiled its much-anticipated first game: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning in February.)
  • Rhode Island can use that to recover money if the company can’t repay the loans.

Rick Gorka, a spokesman for the campaign of Massachusetts Republican Charles D. Baker, said Schilling’s departure was an example of a “toxic business climate’’ created by Democratic incumbent Governor Deval Patrick. (No wonder Baker lost, with advice like that!)

Free from the weight of Mr. Schilling’s ego, Massachusetts bounced back. The latest unemployment figures (May 17) put the Bay State’s unemployment rate at 6.3 percent last month (April 2012).

And Schilling? Well, this week his company was unable to pay workers Thursday (May 17/2012) and the check for this year’s 1.25 million-dollar guaranty payment to Rhode Island, due this month, bounced.

Bureau of labor Statistics figures put Rhode Island’s unemployment rate in March 2012 at: 11.1 percent. Massachusetts was: 6.5 percent.

  • In 2009: Rhode Island’s unemployment rate (civilian non-institutional population) was at: 10.8 percent. In 2010 it was: 11.6 percent. Massachusetts was: 8.2 and 8.5 percent.

Rhode Island governor Lincoln Chafee. (Republican turned Independent in 2007)

Back then when Schilling decided to move his company to Rhode Island, Lincoln Chafee – running for governor of Rhode Island as an independent – described Curt Schilling as: “I just remember his own teammates didn’t like him…they thought he was a bit of a salesman…”

Chafee said more, but I am first and foremost a Red Sox fan. Yes. Still!

So where are the Republicans?

Any calls for an investigation?

Any subpoena here to examine the agreement with a “firm that has proven to be unviable in the global market”?*

Solyndra’s loan is much bigger and worthy of investigation…

But Schilling?

Like he said back then: Any responsible entrepreneur exhausts every avenue of potential funding when running a start-up company; we’re no different.’’ He had a responsibility to his 180 employees to explore every option to make 38 Studios a success.

Listen up, Solyndra – when the Department of Energy dangled those millions in front of you, you did what? Exhausted an avenue of potential funding! Exhaust indeed…

In February 2011, Mr. Schilling said: “There can be no question our country is in the worst economic crisis of our lifetimes. I also think there can be no question that it falls on us, the individuals, to find a way out of our own personal crisis.”

Well now – find your way, Mr. Schilling – or maybe it’s easier to TALK, huh, especially when we have NO idea what the heck we’re talking about – as in the usual Republican style!

Pentagon’s 143-million-dollar White Elephants.

SOURCE: ABC News

Did you catch that story about those Air Force Fighter Jets, the Stealth F-22 Raptors, that pilots are afraid to fly…?

The F-22 Raptor is America’s most expensive fighter jet!

F-22 Raptors. Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii (2007)

Yet, at 143-million-dollars each, those advanced Lockheed engineering marvels are sitting idly…because pilots (Air Force says some pilots) are too worried to get in and FLY them. Pilots are asking NOT to fly the next-generation fighters or to be reassigned…

Seems these planes have a “mysterious oxygen system problem” the Air Force hasn’t been able to solve despite years of investigation.

According to the ABC News report: “For years the F-22 has been plagued with an extremely rare, but potentially deadly problem in which its pilots experience what the Air Force describes as “hypoxia-like symptoms” in mid-air. Hypoxia is caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain and can be characterized by dizziness, confusion, poor judgment and, eventually, loss of consciousness”.

One F-22 pilot apparently became so disoriented that his plane dropped down and skimmed treetops before the pilot was able to recover and head back to base.
F-22 instructor pilot Jeff Haney died in an Alaska crash in 2010 after a critical malfunction cut off his oxygen completely in mid-air. The Air Force denies any relation to hypoxia but says it does not know what originally caused that malfunction.

In 2011 the Air Force grounded the entire fleet of F-22s…more than 180 planes…for nearly five months.

The planes cost about 79-billion-dollars! That’s $79, 000,000,000.00. (one billion = one thousand million.)

That’s what ONE (1) Billion Dollars…looks like! The Air Force’s Stealth F-22 Raptors cost 79 billion!

  • In April 2011, when the government nearly Shut Down over budget negotiations, House Republicans, led by John Boehner, were determined to fully fund the Pentagon while negotiators were fighting over how deep to cut domestic programs and government agencies. Boehner also vowed to pass the measure despite strong opposition from President Obama and Democrats.
  • Republican Paul Ryan’s Budget, supported by Boehner, cuts all domestic discretionary spending programs other than defense nearly in half.
  • The Pentagon’s budget is about 530 BILLION dollars.

Contractor Lockheed Martin was awarded a defense contract of nearly 25-million for various F-22 related projects – including helping find the cause of the oxygen issue. John Boehner must have been asleep when THAT one slipped by!

A Lockheed Martin building. Bethesda, Maryland

In other words, The Pentagon is paying the manufacturer to find the problem. I guess the Air Force designed the Raptor then gave it to Lockheed Martin who then followed those instructions to a T?

Imagine buying an I-Pod, discovering it doesn’t work – then having to PAY Apple so Apple can find out why it’s product does not work!

Republicans have NO compunction to cut Food Stamps, Health Care, Medicaid, Medicare, Subsidized Housing, Insurance for Children (CHIP) and Unemployment Benefits. Yet they support and DEFEND building these $143 million-dollar white elephants and THEN tell YOU, Americans, that paying for health care for YOU is TOO expensive?

You know…or should know…that Republicans absolutely refuse, RE-FUSE! to put the military budget on the chopping block.

Pentagon

• Nobody is telling Republicans to STOP the Pentagon from developing new or more sophisticated weapons.

• Nobody is suggesting that the Pentagon shuts down and merges with Homeland Security!

• NOBODY (I hope) wants the military go without. But everybody in America knows …or SHOULD know…that the Pentagon is a bottomless pool of waste and mismanagement.

Well, everybody except Republicans.

600-dollar toilet seats? Nearly one-and-a-half MILLION travel credit cards – more than 200-thousand purchase cards? I suspect cleaners at the Pentagon probably have credit cards too…so they can buy 400-dollar mops!

So, let Republicans explain HOW it comes to pass that: America’s most advanced and expensive fighter jets are sitting idle because pilots refuse to fly them. Not ONE of the $143 million-dollar planes has ever been used in combat.

Not ONE of these super-sophisticated fighter jets saw combat in Iraq OR Afghanistan…or even the no-fly zone over Libya last year.

The Pentagon originally ordered hundreds more of the planes from Lockheed Martin,

Fighter pilot Jeff Haney. Died in F-22 crash in Alaska (2010)

But in 2009 critics of the program pressured Congress to cancel more funding for the F-22s.

The Air Force has glowingly described the F-22 as the future of American air dominance. But critics (including John McCain and President Obama) call the F-22 Raptor a waste of money in today’s combat environment and a danger to its own pilots.

Compromise is NOT a “Dirty” Word…

Who knew…?

Compromise: NOT a dirty word!

I knew. You knew, too. Only Republicans had no clue!

If you tell House Speaker Republican John Boehner that ‘compromise’ is indeed a word…he’ll argue that the Obama people just coined the term…to draw attention away from the president’s failed economic policies.

Republicans wasted 4 years SABOTAGING President Obama’s efforts.  Now, 7 months ahead of a Presidential election, Boehner is on TV saying:

“I would say that there is a 2 in 3 chance that we win control of the House again. But there’s a 1 in 3 chance that we could lose. And I’m being myself, frank, we’ve got a big challenge and we’ve got work to do.”

How does he PLAN to get Republicans to work? By crying, I guess. Because don’t expect compromise!

  • Yes, lose the HOUSE
  • Lose the SENATE

    House Speaker, Republican John Boehner:

  • And especially — LOSE the PRESIDENCY

Not because you’re Republican. That’s enough of a reason, of course — but I WANT YOU TO LOSE because of the trauma you Republicans and Tea Party-nistas inflicted on the country…in your zeal to destroy president Obama.

Do you think that by heading down a narrow, winding one lane road with a sign proclaiming “Failure for Obama” you were hurting Obama and helping America…?

How do you hurt Obama if he is a one-term president?

Of course it’s more of an ego-booster to serve two terms. But if Obama leaves the White House in January, what’s he going to lose personally that he could have saved with another 4 years in office?

  • Obama is going to be much in demand everywhere, around the world
  • He will make major dollars in speaking/other fees, jobs
  • He won’t get MORE health care
  • He won’t get MORE Secret Service protection
  • He will still be in the history books as the FIRST Black President (He won’t change color after a second term!)
  • Actually one less term might be better for his health!

President Obama. First Lady Michelle Obama. What's NOT to like...?

He’ll go to his big house, with a big job, health care for life, will be able to afford the best education for his kids and will not have to worry about the day-to-day grind MOST of us have to deal with. US, the “we” in people – we’re the ones who are screwed. NOT Obama!!!

So I don’t understand HOW you’re hurting Obama by making him a one-term president? If I’m missing something here, please let me know…

THEY HAVE A PERSONAL VENDETTA AGAINST OBAMA that goes BEYOND his policies…

What Republicans have done, in their desire to hurt Obama, is HURT America.

  1. Do we have Immigration Reform? NO
  2. Do we have Tax Reform? NO
  3. Do we have sound Health Care Reform? NO
  4. Do we have a sound Energy Policy that is forward-looking? NO
  5. Do we have Education Reform? NO
  6. Social Security Reform? NO
  7. Medicaid/Medicare Reform? NO

What the hell do we have..? Ask Boehner…

Now he says: “…we’ve got work to do.” Wow – way to go, Mr. Speaker. You have May, June, July, August, September and October to rush through as much of the above as you can. What did you do with the other 3 years and 6 months? Republicans spent it trying to derail Obama.

The Republican Code of Intent to Crucify Obama (CICO) pronounce it as: Psycho!

Anti-Obama sign...remember those? WHY? Because he's (1) Black (2) Muslim - according to them (3) a Foreigner, so Anti-American - according to THEM.

  1. 1.    Mitch McConnell (Fox News Sunday/ July 2011):  Well that is true (Making Obama a one-tern President is) my single most important political goal along with every active Republican in the country…”
  1. Michelle Bachmann. It’s her rallying cry! (May 2011/on her website):  Please make a contribution and join my money bomb to raise $240,000 in 24 hours and make Barak Obama a one-term President. — An unauthorized biography about Bachmann is titled: Let’s make Obama a one-term President. — In a speech (Feb 2011) to the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington: “The all-important must have for 2012 is making Barack Obama a one-term president.”
  1. 2.    Paul Ryan (Oct 2011): “The only way we can restore our prosperity and save our great nation from President Barack Obama’s failed policies is to elect conservative Republican leaders from the Court House to the White House in 2012 — and make President Obama a one-term president.
  1. Rush Limbaugh (Obama Inauguration/2009): I would be honored if the Drive-By Media headlined me all day long: “Limbaugh: I Hope Obama Fails.” Somebody’s gotta say it.
  1. RNC: the RNC continues our efforts to make Barack Obama a one-term president.

While We're Falling Behind - Republicans are fiddling. One tune, over and over: Make Obama a one-term President".

Making Obama a One-Term President is a very worthy goal that has pushed America forward and given the country a competitive edge when it comes to technology and innovation.

That’s why when politicians leave Congress, they become lobbyists and other high-earning hot-shots in the private sector! Approve Pink Slime as your food then go work for the beef industry? Nothing wrong with that. Protest the war in Iraq? You’re a Values Underminer…

So who’s going to be working with Boehner? His Tea Party obstructionistas whom he can’t control? Boehner again: “…if Republicans were walking in lockstep, my job would be a whole lot easier.”  Did he say lockstep or lockjaw?

Meantime, while Republicans like John McCain and Rudy Giuliani are chewing on Maalox tabs after endorsing Romney…Jon Huntsman, one of the BEST candidates the Republicans had in the race is now comparing the Republican Party to “communist China” and questioning the strength of this year’s presidential field. A Republican with guts! About time…

In Boston we dumped the Tea in the hah-bah…
