The modern-day left-wing RADICALS who protest against the people who live in mansions like these…take money from people who live in mansions like these!
So, you want to PROTEST Trump? And…?
Are you going to make us aware of something about Trump WE DON’T ALREADY KNOW? WHAT IS your point? (Apart from exercising your democratic right to protest, to gather, to speak — which, incidentally, you try to DENY to others.)
Do you have some shocking EXPOSE about Trump? For example: is Trump really Satan in disguise — OR Hitler OR Elvis? Or even Tupac?
IF you are going to proclaim that Trump is misogynistic, bombastic, racist, imperialist, narcissistic, unrealistic, an attention-getter, race-baiter, not to mention jet-setter…WE KNOW!!!
We TRULY don’t NEED you to point out Mr. Trump’s flaws. Those of us who’ve been following the Primaries, debates and Caucuses, news and talk-shows…we KNOW. Even people who are NOT following just know – it’s blowing in the wind! CAN’t miss it!
We’re unlikely to see a placard at your protest and go: “Oooohh – No Wall!” So, you want to occupy the Capitol and will “demand that Congress listen to the People and take immediate action to save our democracy. And we won’t leave until they do or until they send thousands of us to jail.”
Bring paper to write your last will and testament – or enough money for bail. Plan to say there until you die! Or someone sells something on eBay to raise money to bail you…
I don’t see Mitch McConnell or Jeff Sessions granting any concessions to you…that they won’t give to President Obama. Or maybe they’ll turn tail and run….who knows?
Now why would thousands of you want to go to jail to make Congress LISTEN to you. How stupid is that? There is a much EASIER WAY to make Congress listen to you. It’s called an Election and it’s coming up in November. If you VOTE in the same masses that you are protesting with – then the political landscape will change…and Congress will listen.
Sending “thousands” of you to jail means building MORE jails which you oppose! Don’t BE silly…well, I know it’s HARD, but, really – DON’T be silly! Try!!!
Maybe, you will cause a riot and Trump’s supports will go: “Just look at those free-speech killing Liberals trying to trump Trump. Let’s go home. I really can’t vote for somebody that Liberals don’t like!”
Please stay home! DO NOT go to Philly, (Philadelphia) the City of Brotherly Love, to DISRUPT Trump…
Do not interfere with Trump…LEAVE Trump alone.
Nothing you do will derail Trump. Everything you do may likely STRENGTHEN Trump. In addition, you will make Democrats look bad. Crazy commies!
Republicans are already HANDING you the election gift-wrapped with a “you’re fired” bow! Why is it so hard for you to be quiet – and silent – and just watch!? Why must you always want to do? WHY?
I loathe extremes, equally…be they anarchists on the LEFT or Separatists on the RIGHT!
Mr. Soros, republicans claim YOU are funding the anti-Trump Protesters. If you really, really want to help…let me count the ways:
• I need a house. Nothing expensive. Just 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, biggish yard, could probably fit on your patio…
• Many of the “protesters” need help with their student/other loans
• Help some families facing foreclosure
• Come to Boston and pay for Summer Camp for inner city kids
• Housing groups desperately NEED funding to help tenants fight off higher rents and displacement due to gentrification
• Help build a pleasant housing complex for the working poor who are being displaced by sky-high rents
• Firefighters need new equipment
• Police need money to run stay-out-of-trouble programs for troubled kids
• Excellent, non-egoistic third-party candidates need funding
• Need I go on?
Rupert Murdoch (glasses) net worth: 12 Billion and George Soros…23 Billion
Far be it for ME to tell those “millionaires and billionaires” on Wall Street whose greed is killing America (are you on Wall Street Mr. Soros?) HOW to spend their money – but we’d all be BETTER SERVED…if you invested in the above…instead of chaos!
No hatin’ in the city of Brotherly Love, bro…
We’d ALSO be better off if Rupert Murdock hadn’t imposed his “outlook” (to put it mildly) on America (via Fox News) and ended up making half the population hate each other. I think Murdock and Fox News (News? ha!) are largely responsible for creating today’s GOP chaos. Let’s not have another millionaire or billionaire starting another trend. Think politics BEFORE Fox…
PS: Any groups want to protest that one person owns so much living space? I will fund those protests…shouldn’t cost more that $20. I can afford that…

Baker who ran in 2010 against incumbent/current governor and President Obama pal Deval Patrick (Democrat) in 2010, is planning Baker 2-point-0…the upgrade!
I wonder if Curt Schilling will campaign for Charlie Baker this time around…or whether Baker will consider Schilling, again, as his running mate?
In case you’ve forgotten, Curt Schilling is the former Boston Red Sox pitcher (baseball) who:
- Is King – was King? of bloody socks (at least, here in Boston).
- Championed Republican Baker against current governor Patrick, who took office in 2007: “I’ll vote for him (Baker) because he’s someone that has always appealed to me as being out for the greater good above all else. This state is in dire need of exactly that right now…”
- Later wanted the state (Massachusetts, under Governor Deval Patrick) to give him, Schilling, millions in loan guarantees/state subsidies for his Gaming startup company, 38 Studios.
- When Patrick said no (what did Schilling expect? You campaigned for his rival – and Microsoft you are not!)
- Schilling threw a tantrum. He flounced over to Rhode Island where Schilling got the $75 million in loan guarantees he wanted – then in 2012 defaulted on a million-dollar payment and declared bankruptcy, leaving RI holding the bag. RI is suing!
Yes – that Curt Schilling.
So what role is HE likely to play in Charlie Baker’s second run for governor, Baker 2.0? I say 38 NADAs!
Because back then, when Schilling was campaigning for those government hand-outs from Massachusetts and Patrick turned him down…
“Over the course of the past four years, Massachusetts has lost a lot of businesses…we can’t blame that on businesses that make decisions to do what makes the most sense for their employees.”
Rick Gorka, a spokesman for the Baker campaign, called Schilling’s departure:
An example of a “toxic business climate’’ created by Democratic incumbent Governor Deval Patrick.
So given the debacle that Schilling’s 38 Studios turned out to be, how will Baker justify his campaign getting it so wrong…???
How does Baker parlay that into a bid for faith in his ability to make SOUND business decisions for the Bay State?
For surely IF Baker (thank God) had been governor – HE would have given his buddy/campaign torch bearer the tax-payer dollars Schilling was asking for – and TODAY, it would be Massachusetts TAX PAYERS left holding that bankrupt bag!
According to news reports, angry RI lawmakers were left asking:
Why Rhode Island backed an untested company helmed by a wealthy former athlete when the state grapples with an 11.2 percent jobless rate and chronic budget deficits.
Incidentally the very SAME day that Baker announced that he’s running for governor (09/4/13)…the governor of Rhode Island Lincoln Chafee announced HE will NOT run for another term.
Chafee refused to give Schilling’s 38 Studios yet MORE subsidies to bail the company, (as Schilling was demanding). Chafee called the 38 Studios deal: a very, very challenging investment by the state.
So what does that say about Charlie Baker?
Because if HE had been governor of Massachusetts, WE would be looking at the 38 Studios debacle and drumming him out of town!
38 Studios created such a MESS for/in RI, that I can’t figure it out.
- The state issued $75-million in bonds backed by RI taxpayers. Not just any bonds, moral obligation bonds that they apparently can’t default on, maybe. RI owes the bond holders $110 million!
- The state is suing 14 people involved with the 38 Studios deal, including Curt Schilling.
- Erosion of confidence in the RI Economic Development Corporation – every deal is now suspect!
Now here comes Baker 2.0! More like “Oh NO! Not again?!”
This is ONE time you do NOT upgrade…
Reminder (taken from an online news article about 38 Studios):
- “In April, the Boston Business Journal reported that new court filings alleged 38 Studios knew it was in dire straits before it moved from Massachusetts to the Ocean State. According to documents filed in Rhode Island Superior Court, Rhode Island Economic Development Corp. attorney Max Wistow said there was “crushing evidence” that shows that Schilling and others at the company covered up financial information”.
Rhode Island was left to find a multi-year plan to start paying down the debt.
- In 1989, RI issued about $23 million in bonds for the office building housing 38 Studios…and the state retirement system compounded the error by buying the 38 Studio bonds.
When the building’s owners filed for bankruptcy, RI ended up owing it’s OWN pension system.
Oh what a tangled mess we missed – when governor Patrick, Schilling dissed!

- Consumer Confidence is UP – at its highest level since February.
- Housing prices are UP – home prices in 20 major cities rose in July.
- The stock market is UP adding value to Americans’ 401(k) retirement plans.
The Conference Board, (a business membership and research group made up of public and private corporations and other organization from 60 countries) says the Consumer Confidence Index is up nine points in September to 70 after declining in August. While 90 is the ideal benchmark for a healthy economy, given where we were, at the bottom, things are definitely improving! We could get there FASTER if Republicans were on board – but we will get there without them if they so choose.
Even recent public opinion is trending UP! More and more Americans are beginning to think the country is heading in the RIGHT direction. According to polling company Rasmussen: This is the “highest level of optimism” since June 2009 and the highest weekly finding since April.
I WONDER HOW REPUBLICANS FEEL WHEN THEY HEAR THIS? Despite their BEST efforts, despite the mountain of obstacles Republicans piled up to trip president Obama, despite their lack of cooperation, despite their secret meetings to PLAN OBAMA’S DOWNFALL even BEFORE he took office, despite their criticism, their posturing, grandstanding – despite the fact that Republicans did NOTHING, nothing to help Obama except trying to torpedo him at EVERY TURN, they COULD NOT HOLD AMERICA DOWN. No Americans tied their belts, swallowed their bitter medicine and pulled the country together – WITHOUT REPUBLICANS.
Now tell me, America:
- How much better off would YOU be, would the country BE, if Republicans had worked together with President Obama? Worked hand-in-hand with the White House to bring jobs to America, fix our tax code so rich venture capitalists (including some of Mitt Romney’s fund-raising friends) could PAY MORE taxes leaving them with fewer profits” to hold wild parties featuring open sex acts?
- How much better off would YOU be, would the country BE, if Republicans had presented sound ideas to the President and then instead of the macho, arrogant “Do it my way or hit the highway before I shut the country down” attitude?
- How much better off would WE be if Republicans had worked with the new president and yes, disagreed with him when needed. Then sat down together, brought in the coffee, rolled up their sleeves and pulled a couple of all-nighters to come up with the best outcome for America? Not the best for the rich AMERICANS who pump money into their campaigns – but for ALL Americans. The rich pay their share. We don’t want to break you, keep your millions, just pay some more. And the poor, we don’t want to walk over you. You can’t afford to pay but stand up and be counted. Yes, you too can give back in various ways.
Remember Bill Clinton. What was it about Bill Clinton, one of the presidents who produced the BEST economic results that America ever had in recent time. Republicans SPENT TWO TERMS – 8 YEARS and MILLIONS of Tax Dollars (remember special prosecutor Ken Starr?) trying to derail President Clinton. That is what they DO to Democrat presidents. As for Hilary Clinton, Republicans could not stand Hilary – called her denigrating names…tried to run Bill Clinton our of town for adultery…
Then along came a series of Republican sex scandals. Like Idaho Senator Larry Craig. (Craig, incidentally was one of two Senate liaisons for Romney’s 2008 Presidential campaign). He was arrested for trying to solicit a male undercover cop for gay sex in an airport restroom. Maybe Republicans would like Clinton more if Monica Lewinsky was MARK Lewinsky and Clinton met him at Dulles International!
Ah yes. When Republicans sleep, if they can even sleep, there must be lots of gnashing and grinding of teeth.
–> So did you hear about the The Forbes 400? the list of the top richest people in America?
There are about 300-million people in America. About 400 are Billionaires. NOT Millionaires – BILLIONAIRES. I could live happily on 1 million dollars. I bet you could too, if you did not go crazy and spend, spend, spend. I’d take that million, invest it, earn a couple hundred thousand a year, AVOID PAYING TAXES on MY “Investment Income” and leave taxes to schmucks.
Yes, I could live on a million and GROW it too.
But some people cannot live on a million. They need 45 million. Not enough – they need 100-million. Still not enough. They need 400-million. MORE? How about 1-billion dollars? Nope? Then 30 billion? Uh-uh? OK! 66-billion like Bill Gates? Yea, now you’re talking. 66 billion is about enough – or is it?
Now Bill Gates is a philanthropist. I love what he’s doing with education, AIDS research and clean water, etc, in America and poor countries. But does any ONE person NEED to have 66-BILLION dollars?
HOW about half …33-billion? Let’s use the other 33-billion to buy houses for RESPONSIBLE Americans who work hard and have a job or prospects to get a job so they can maintain the house? How about using that 33-billion to give scholarships to every high school kid who has the grades to get into college/trade school?
Would America not be better off with the money DISTRIBUTED like that, instead of concentrated in ONE person’s hands? Republicans tell you: NO.
–> Did you see Mitt Romney on TV at NBC’s Education Forum “Education Nation” held in New York Tuesday 9/25/2012?
Romney opened by saying he was “lucky to live in the state of Massachusetts.”Huh? Because of the state’s very good schools. So Romney says HE went looking for the
REASONS (because HE knows that it is NOT due to HIM). Romney says HE went looking for answers and he went way back to 1993 when Republican governor Bill Weld worked with a Democrat-controlled congress to reform education.
Anyway, host Brian Williams referred to the high costs of a quality, PRIVATE education like the one Romney got at his exclusive Cranbrook School. Williams asked Romney “Do you think we owe, as a nation, to every pupil in America the equivalent of a 38-thousand-dollar education” like the one Romney got at his old school in Michigan?
…and all Mitt Romney had to say was:
“I would not say we “owe” it to them, but I think we should do EVERYTHING we can to ensure each child starts off in life by getting a quality education like the one I got. I was fortunate enough that my parents could afford to pay for me – but lack of money should NOT prevent our kids from getting a quality education. American kids need to be able to get the necessary qualifications to go on to a university or trade school of their choice – if he/she chooses.”
Instead Romney waffled, beat around the bush and spoke at length about “dollar amounts” to finally say that he “rejects the idea that everybody has to have a Harvard expense level degree (like HIM) to be successful”. Was that the question? NO.
The question was not if every high school graduate should go to Harvard or other expensive universities? Obviously NOT everybody will go to Harvard because Harvard has a limited capacity.
The question was: Should America PAY to ensure that every kid gets an expensive, private school type education like the one Romney got at his elite ELEMENTARY school: Cranbrook School, a private, PK–12 Prep School located on a 319 acres in Michigan. There’s a co-ed elementary school, a middle school with separate schools for boys and girls and a co-educational high school with boarding facilities.
As far as Romney is concerned HE does not support using tax dollars to fund the kids of those lazy, entitled 47-percent Americans…and send them to a upper crust PRIVATE boarding school like Cranbrook. He would rather pour billions into new missiles to attack Iran, Syria and Libya.
Romney says in Massachusetts that He proposed that BEFORE parents registered their kids for Kindergarten, these parents had to attend a “training program to learn about the impact of education”. He wasn’t able to get it done – but it’s something he wants to do because it has merit.
How about me, with my university diploma, going to register my son in Kindergarten, and Mitt Romney tells ME that I MUST do a program FIRST to learn about the impact of education BEFORE I can register my son?
Never mind if I am working one job, two jobs and CANNOT attend!
Never mind if I come from a family with university graduates and already KNOW the impact of education!.
Never mind if I have sibling who is perusing a PhD program in Education or that my son’s father is an engineer – or that I have two other brothers with university degrees. Does not matter! I DON’T KNOW THE IMPACT OF EDUCATION – ’cause MITT ROMNEY DECIDES SO! I MSUT REGISTER AND TAKE CLASSES TO LEARN ABOUT THE IMAPCT OF EDUCATION.
See the arrogance of Mitt Romney? And he can’t even GET why we don’t get HIM! Now unlike Republicans, I’m not just dismissing an idea from the “other” side. But one size does not fit all. There are some parents who DO need to realize the impact of education – but NOT all parents. Shocked as Mitt Romney would be by this: SOME PARENTS ALREADY KNOW!
Yes governor Romney. Much as you think YOU know it all, US 47-percenters you seem to DESPISE so much are going about our lives, struggling yes, but doing the best we can with the little we’ve got – and producing kids who are just as smart as your 5 boys. and NO, our sons are NOT joining the military either.
I am sending my son to work on Wall Street to make millions he can invest in the Caymans and other off-shore accounts. This Investment Income will be taxed at a very low rate. Have a problem with THAT, Mitt Romney?
Have you heard? Mitt Romney has found his compassion!
He stumbled on it while he was groping in the dark in the night (9/18, 2012). At a fundraiser in Utah Romney said: “We are compassionate, caring people. We want to help those in need, but we don’t believe that redistribution is the way to create a bright future.” He had an “aha” moment!
Are you familiar with the nursery rhyme, Jack Horner?
Little jack Horner, sat in a corner, eating his Christmas pie. He put in his thumb and pulled out a plum and said: “What a good boy am I”
Well here is HOW Mitt Romney found his compassion. Romney was sitting on the deck of his Wolfeboro mansion in New Hampshire when he:
“Put in his thumb and pulled out a plum of compassion…”
Er, the plum was apparently stuck under his shoe! It fell off when Romney put his feet into his mouth – he was disparaging American voters – those moochers with the “Victim Syndrome” who don’t pay taxes and feel entitled to oxygen!
“Little Mitt Romney, sitting in one of his mansions on Lake Winnipesaukee,
Eating his filet of veal…
He pulled a thick wallet, out of his gullet
And quipped “Oh, what a rich boy I am!”
My loss of compassion, is now in remission
I’m a flip-flop politician!”
So Republicans want to use Mitt Romney’s arrogant dismissal of half the country to focus on “distribution of wealth”.
Yes. Let’s. Now is really the time, with a rich man running for President, to remind Americans that a small percentage of the super rich hold nearly ALL the country’s wealth. BY ALL MEANS, let us focus on DISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH. But FIRST, let’s begin with the 47-percent (minus the multi-millionaires) whom Romney dismissed as self-described “victims” of entitlement.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2011, nearly 74-million American workers (73.9 million) age 16 and over were paid at hourly rates. They represent 59 percent of ALL wage and salary workers. Among those hourly paid workers, nearly 2-million (1.7 million) workers earned exactly the prevailing Federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. About 2.2 million had wages below the minimum. (Romney and Republicans think you are a moocher if you don’t pay taxes on those LOW wages, but it’s OK if THEY, with their millions, DON’T PAY any taxes!)Across America, MILLIONS of Americans (including the majority of the 47-percent), many of whom DO work and sometimes hold TWO jobs, will never earn in a year what Mitt Romney earns in ONE DAY. Romney made $60-thousand a day in 2010. AFTER TAXES! $60-thousand a day multiplied by 365 days = 21 million, 900-thousand dollars. Romney’s gross adjusted income (after taxes) in 2010 was 22 million).
- The minimum wage in Boston, Massachusetts while higher than in many other cities/states is $8.00 an hour. Multiply that by the 8 hours of a working day, that comes to $64.00 a day.
- Multiply the daily wage by the 5 days of an average work week: that is $320.00 a week.
- Multiply that $320.00 a week by 4 weeks = $1280.00 a MONTH…before PAYROLL taxes.
According to MIT: The living wage shown is the hourly rate that an individual must earn to support their family, if they are the sole provider and are working full-time (2080 hours per year). The state minimum wage is the same for all individuals, regardless of how many dependents they may have.
MIT finds that one adult with one child needs to earn $26 dollars an hour to get by in Boston. $33 an hour for an adult with 2 kids.
NOW LET US LOOK AT THE RENTS BELOW AND TELL ME, MITT ROMNEY AND REPUBLICANS…can you or a family with kids live on $1280.00 a MONTH without a housing subsidy? Or a rich parent? Or a friend or relatives to share costs with or double up by? Remember Romney made $60-thousand every day in 2010.
The rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Boston is nearly $2-thousand a month and more! Check it out yourself. Visit the classifieds in the Boston Globe (one of the leading newspapers in Boston and America) and hit For Rent -> Apartments.

- $1280.00 a month multiplied by 12 months = $15, 360.00 a year. Yet multi-millionaire Mitt Romney (who made $60-thousand a day in 2010, uses every loophole to NOT pay taxes on his 40 million in pre-tax income) and Republicans — are bitching that you, Joe American, are NOT paying taxes and see yourself as a victim. Of course YOU are a victim – of Republican IGNORANCE and lack of charity!
Find the Republican who can argue INTELLIGENTLY that someone making $1280.00 a month with one or two kids can live on this amount of money: buy food, care for the kids, afford healthcare and personal stuff, save for college etc…without some help from a rich relative like Mitt Romney? No rich relative to give you a loan to start a business? No sugar daddy? OK. Get a second job or get government benefits, if your income allows it. Remember Romney made $60-thousand a day in 2010.
DO YOU HAVE CHILDCARE? Can you afford to pay $200-$300.00 a week PER CHILD if you don’t get into a government subsidized Day Care Program like Headstart. Republicans wanted to cut Headstart by $2-billion in March 2011? REMEMBER THAT?
If you’re lucky enough to have someone who will care for the kids in the evenings – like a live-in relative, spouse or willing grandmother, trusted neighbor/friend, then you can get a second job. Don’t have child care – aw, don’t worry – Ann Romney will take care of the kids for us. How many hours do you work on that second job? OK, let’s show Republicans how hard-working we are (Ann Romney’s watching the kids, remember, checking their book reports). Let’s do another 40 hours! So we’re working 80 hours a week. Good capitalist Americans generating income for big business…
You pull in another $1280.00 each month. So now you are earning $2560.00 a month. Republicans are happy – you are staring the Middle Class in the face now – making $30-thousand a year.
So now you can barely afford an apartment on the open market. But even on $2560 a month, you STILL struggle with transportation, food, clothing, incidentals, school supplies, child care etc. CAN YOU MAKE IT WITHOUT SOME HELP, even working 80 hours a week?
Most moms cannot work 80-hours a week – say you do 60 hours…is that enough?
Do you want Republicans calling you a loser? Saying you “believe that you are a victim, you believe the government has a responsibility to care for YOU…you believe that you are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it.“
Are you happy that Republicans think you’re a leech, sucking the government dry?
Do you want to tell Republicans where to go? Well you can – on November 06.
So we now come to Income Distribution and Wealth Distribution…
Wikipedia explains Income distribution in simple terms: How a nation’s total Gross Domestic Product (value of all the goods and services a country produces) is distributed amongst its population. In other words, Income Distribution tells you WHO earns WHAT.
The one you want to talk about is the Distribution Of Wealth – a comparison of the wealth of various members or groups in a society. It looks at the distribution of ownership of the assets in a society, rather than the current income of members of that society.
WHERE is the money, the assets? WHO has it, WHO is controlling the assets in America? You already KNOW. A small percentage at the top. To Republicans, that is just OK. That status quo is just fine with THEM! Democrats say: NO! NOT fair! Let’s spread the profits around a little so we all end up better off!
So Joe average American: Are you happy with the status quo? Is it not time for you to say “Party be damned, I need relief!” How do we share the pie more equitably…?
Republicans want you to believe that President Obama will come charging up on his trusty steed and play Robin Hood by holding up a bank, grab Mitt Romney’s millions and give them to YOU. We wish! More likely Obama will be riding a donkey. No disrespect. Jesus (Republicans?) rode on a donkey too!
In most societies, wealth is spread through factors like:
- Property redistribution
- Labor market/unions
- Even marriage/divorce!
Few rich people will take their money and give it away to the poor. Look at Medieval times when the rich were lavish in their lifestyles and the poor were abject in their desolate poverty. WHAT changed THAT? Not these batch of Republicans we have today. Left to them, the masses would still be serfs, working on land they leased from their noble Lords…and would NEVER own!
Luckily, pioneers of change forced the wealthy to share the pie. UNIONS ensured workers were paid better wages, that helped workers and their kids to progress and NOT remain serfs all their lives. Working conditions were improved, so workers did not die on the job like animals. Workers became able to buy land, build a comfortable house and own it. The masses could vote and choose people who would further their interests instead of that of the nobility and large land owners. The lower classes were educated, etc…
By doing that, wealth began to leave the hands of the wealthy few and trickle down to the poor masses. A middle class was built. WEALTH WAS DISTRIBUTED. Should we have left THAT to the nobles to do? The French Revolution made many of the ruling elite begin to see the light!
But today, that wealth is beginning to trickle BACK UP TO THE TOP again. And Republicans want it to keep heading that way. Here are some facts I pulled from Wikipedia (because I was too lazy to go find the facts for myself from the government website):
- According to the Congressional Budget Office, between 1979 and 2007 the incomes of the top 1-percent of Americans grew by about 275-percent.
- But the incomes of the 60-percent of Americans in the middle income scale rose by 40-percent..
- Since 1979, the average pre-tax income for the bottom 9-percent of households FELL by $900.
- Pre-tax income for the top 1-percent ROSE by over $700-thousand as federal taxation became less progressive. (Thanks to the Bush tax cuts – rich people paid less in taxes, lower brackets pay more)
- From 1992-2007 the top 400 income earners in the U.S. saw their income RISE 392-percent…while their average tax rate FELL by 37-percent.
- In 2009, the average income for the top 1-percent ranged from 344-thousand to $960-thousand.
- In 2007 the richest 1-percent of Americans owned 35-percent of the country’s total wealth. The next 19-percent owned 51-percent.
- The top 20-percent of Americans owned 85-percent of the country’s wealth and the bottom 80-percent of the population owned 15-percent.
- Financial inequality was greater than inequality in total wealth. The top 1-percent of the population own 43-percent. The next 19-percent of Americans own 50-percent and the bottom 80-percent own 7-percent of total wealth.
YET, Republicans do not see the need to spread the wealth around. So instead of one person having $20 billion, he/she can have $15-billion. Is that NOT enough? Instead of one person like Mitt Romney earning 45 million in two years, he can take home $35-million. IS THAT NOT ENOUGH? Is that not still RICH enough?
So America – WHAT do you want to DO about this wealth inequality?
Do you want companies to keep making huge profits while workers make $7.00 an hour and struggle along? Or can workers earn a few dollars MORE while a company makes a few million Less?
Are you pleased that rich people are getting so much richer while you are not moving or getting poorer?
Do you like watching the Romneys spend $77-thousand on a horse while you can’t spend $17.00 on your medication?
You don’t mind seeing rich donors spend 150-thousand dollars PER HEAD, 300-thousand for a couple to eat fancy chicken at a political fundraiser – while you will never make $50-thousand a year? Can’t even come up with $150.00 to send your kid to camp?
And yes, Mitt Romney disclosed on TV that HE is a fan of trashy reality scandalmonger Snooki. Don’t ask me – I give less than a hoot about these poor examples of behavior. Did not watch that show. But it’s interesting to know that Mitt Romney did! Romney also hangs with rich playboy party animal Marc Leder (the millionaire pal at whose Florida home Romney made his famous 47-percent tax comments). Leder reportedly throws pool parties in the Hamptons, featuring scantily clad female dancers and open sex acts. Now Romney is watching Snooki too? Better watch those Republican values, Mr. Romney…
He put in his thumb…
And pulled out more crumbs…
of insanity – wooee!
“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.
[M]y job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”
Mitt Romney is such an arrogant, arrogant person…
Remember when he said: “I don’t care about the very poor”?
Now he just dismisses about HALF of the American voters because he, Romney the Great, will NEVER, not ever – convince these freeloading losers that “they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”
No we don’t CARE about our own lives, Mr. Romney. We’re waiting for your wife Ann to come calling with a plate of cookies…and take over. SHE understands how WE roll…
His JOB is not to worry about those people – we KNOW that. Romney’s job is to ensure that rich people keep their status quo. THAT’S his job. The poor and middle class can get lost. Hedge fund managers, that’s his JOB! Incidentally he was speaking at the Florida home of one of these private equity managers named Marc Leder (May 17, 2012).
So when Romney becomes president, YOU just know Mitt Romney will put in all those great programs for ordinary Americans. He will invite you to the White House. He will listen to your concerns. He will look for advice from YOU. He will champion your causes. He will continue to subsidize your housing and your health care and insurance for seniors. He will continue to subsidize day care for working moms, (like his wife Ann), and he will continue to support food stamps and extend unemployment benefits.
Go ahead and vote for him – then midway through his term when you CANNOT breathe, just swing around and vote Democrat – then sit back and expect a miracle.
Did I not say in an earlier post some time ago that “Stupidity should be a crime”?
This is a PATTERN with Mitt Romney. He has made statement after statement that shows how he thinks about people who cannot afford to pay from $50 thousand to $150-thousand to attend one of his fund-raisers.
Here he is, a multi-millionaire who uses tax loopholes like off-shore accounts and the lower rates paid on investment income to weasel OUT of paying HIS FAIR SHARE of taxes. Yet, Romney goes on a rant about people who don’t pay taxes – NOT because they are hiding their money in off-shore accounts like Romney and his multi-millionaire friends – but because many of these people have NOTHING left to give after they take home their measly paycheck.
This Bible that Romney and Republicans both PRETEND to believe in – is it not that SAME Bible that says the POOR will ALWAYS be with us? Yes, that’s right. Matthew 11:26 AND Mark 14:7 say: “The poor will always be with us.”
The poor will always be with us, Jesus says – unless Romney and Republicans, the bestest Christians and lovers of God that ever was, was – yes, the Pharisees and Sadducees of OUR day – no longer believe in Jesus and his integrity?
Assuming they still DO, IF the poor are always going to BE with us, then what should we DO with the poor?
Romney and Republicans want to throw them out. Leave the poor by the wayside. Turn their backs on poor people.
Jesus and Democrats want us to remember that the poor will always be with us – and to remember the example of Mother Theresa…instead of billionaire hotelier Leona Helmsley!
Americans have always taken care of the poor, be it here or in other countries. How can somebody who has the kind of lifestyle that Mitt Romney has, the houses including his California mansion with the elevator he’s building for the family’s CARS, the clothes that cost thousands of dollars, the millions and millions of dollars in his bank account (like 22-million in 2010) not even FEEL sorry for people who have so little?
May I remind Romney that only a small percentage of Americans are as rich as HE is? Even the middle class is taking a hit, due in large part to Republican policies. Millions of HARD-WORKING AMERICAN FAMILIES depend on subsidized programs – housing, health care, vouchers – and would be in serious trouble without these benefits. Romney supports pouring billions of dollars into the Middle East but we cannot support our American poor – who are NOT rioting in the streets!
Now Romney called a press conference to – I don’t know what – save his image? But instead of apologizing to the millions of voters he disrespected, he just clarified that his comments were not “elegantly stated”. In other words: What I said is true, but I should have said it differently.
I was waiting for somebody to ask Romney to rephrase his remarks in a more “elegant” way. I’d like to hear such elegance stated.
May I also remind Mr. Romney that HE IS WRONG AGAIN. That HE DID NOT CHECK HIS FACTS (facts are just minor inconveniences to Mitt Romney) because what he said is NOT true. The “Working Poor” pay OTHER taxes like PROPERTY taxes and SALES taxes. According to the breakdown of the 47-percent of households/voters Romney is referring to (source: Daily Beast):
- Only 18-percent of households pay NO taxes. And most of these people, two-thirds of them, DO PAY PAYROLL TAXES. And these payroll taxes are at a HIGHER RATE than the income tax rate MULTI-MILLIONAIRE Romney paid on his millions of Investment Income.
- About 10-percent of the people who do not pay taxes are elderly and/or retired.
- Many are poor, with yearly incomes of $20-thousand or less. And the reason WE THE (POOR) PEOPLE pay no taxes is because we can claim Tax Credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit. Will a President Romney keep those credits?
- Many people who don’t pay taxes live in the South, in conservative states that vote Republican, NOT democrat so they are NOT Obama voters – they are Romney’s voters. NINE of the TEN states with the most people who DO NOT pay income taxes are “RED” states. Bet you did not know that, Mr. Romney. Yes, they are Republicans. Now do you want to hold another press conference and really apologize this time to all those Bible-thumping freeloaders who were planning to vote for you? Though I don’t know why. Which would they rather have? Romney or their Tax Credits?
- And yes, some of the people who DO NOT PAY TAXES are the super rich – the roughly 3-thousand members of the top one-percent of taxpayers who make their money from investing. Hedge fund managers, private equity lenders like Mitt Romney. These real estate investors and wealthy financiers use another tax loophole “tax-loss carryforward,” (whatever that is) and end up paying little or nothing in taxes.
THAT’S WHAT MANY PEOPLE SUSPECT MITT ROMNEY DID – THAT THIS IS WHY HE CANNOT RELEASE HIS TAX RETURNS – BECAUSE THEY WILL SHOW THAT ROMNEY PAID NOTHING IN TAXES FOR THE YEARS HE IS HIDING!
Isn’t it rich (apt pun) that the multi-millionaire who pays a lower tax rate than the middle class, than his running mate even — the multi-millionaire who is AFRAID to release his tax returns because as some insiders claim, ROMNEY DID NOT PAY ANY TAXES for the years he is hiding — now blasts poor people and LOWER INCOME EARNERS, those unpatriotic FREELOADERS…for NOT paying taxes?
Still surprised at Republican hypocrisy? Why?
Romney earned in one DAY more money than most Americans make in a year! HE does not care about the very poor. We understand THAT, Mr. Romney. Indeed we do…
As the British probably said when Romney went to London and insulted the Brits over Olympic preparations: “What a rum chap, this Mitt Romney.”
Or, to put it bluntly: The Emperor Has No Clothes!
Did you hear the latest news story about Romney and Republicans – how prominent Republicans are criticizing Romney for just TALKING without offering any SUBSTANCE? Who knew they had it in them?
Of course this is TYPICAL Mitt Romney – we in Massachusetts can tell that to the rest of America – and DID tell America, but did America listen? Heck NO. Republicans let Romney buy the election with his millions (Romney spent 6-million-dollars of his own money on the governor’s race in Massachusetts) because they thought those very same millions would crush Obama.
The Wall Street Journal is owned by a conservative, republican-sympathizer/donor Rupert Murdoch, who also owns Fox News. When leading conservatives feel an itch to make a point in the mainstream media, the same “mainstream media” they HATE so much, one of the places they use to express their opinion is in the Wall Street Journal.
In an editorial in the Journal Tuesday (9/11/12), conservatives wrote: “Mr. Romney’s pre-existing political calculation seems to be that he can win the election without having to explain the economic moment or even his own policies.” It is NOT democrats saying that – it is Romney’s OWN fellow Conservatives calling their party nominee’s position: “pre-existing political calculation.” Do you think that they are just finally getting it? NO, No, no.
They KNEW of his pre-existing political calculation BEFORE the primary; they KNEW about it when they turned their backs on Jon Huntsman, they KNEW about it when they embraced him at the convention. So does that make them equally guilty…because some of them like commentator George Will were never in Mitt Romney’s corner and most are still NOT in his corner!
NOW, though, they want Romney to come up with specifics! Seriously!? You want specifics from somebody who says one thing yesterday, something else today and yet a different thing tomorrow about the SAME issue. Like:
- Universal Health Care is good!
According to one website that tracks Mitt Romney’s positions on the Issues: the idea of COMPULSORY health insurance was first put forward by REPUBLICANS! The idea first came from conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation in the late 1980s, when Democrats were pushing employers to provide health insurance. Republicans (ever the protector of big business) suggested that instead of forcing EMPLOYERS to pay for the coverage why not make EVERY AMERICAN buy health insurance? And so we got the “Individual mandate”.
Naturally, with the HYPOCRISY of Republicans, THEY turned away from their own idea!!! Apparently, in the early 1990s, many Republicans championed the “Individual Mandate”. Then President Clinton came up with a plan to FORCE companies to cover employees…but Republicans KILLED it 1994.
When Mitt Romney became governor of my home state of Massachusetts (2003), HE resurrected the idea of the “individual mandate.” Under his universal insurance scheme “Romneycare” whenever a Massachusetts resident files STATE taxes, he/she MUST show that he/she has Health Insurance, wither private or state (called Mass Health) OR you face about $200 in fines.
n 2006 as then governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney called it “A Republican way of reforming the market.” and that “To have people show up at a hospital when they get sick, and expect someone else to pay, that’s a Democratic approach.”
OK Mr. Romney…
BUT that was what he said when he was governor.
During the Republican Primary when his Republican challenger Rick Santorum pounded Romney on Health Care Reform, Mitt Romney suddenly HATED universal health care and “individual mandates”.
To win the nomination, Romney displayed what conservative republicans now call his: pre-existing political calculation and turned his back on the ONLY, the SINGLE, the ONE star in his portfolio as governor of Massachusetts and decided that the Massachusetts “model” worked just for MA but would not work for the rest of America.
So he bought the Tea Party conservative’s vote by insisting that HE, Mitt Romney would REPEAL “Obamacare” on day one of getting into the White House.
THAT WAS IN THE RECENT PAST.
Romney, having secured the Tea Party endorsement, of a tepid sort at the Republican National Convention, strayed off script this week and stated that HE will not repeal EVERY aspect of the federal health care act – Romney says he will actually KEEP some parts which are popular with Americans. Oh dear me…I can imagine the seismic gasp (sort of like Ann Romney’s collective sighs. See my August 31, post: Repackaging and Reselling Mitt Romney) that ran down the spines of hard-line Tea Party conservatives!
So where does that leave Mitt Romney today? Ask Republicans…
Their nominee’s pre-existing political calculation turned around and bit him in his (you know!). By distancing himself from health care reform in Massachusetts he has nothing left to run on since Healthcare Reform IS the SUM TOTAL of HIS MASSACHUSETTS RECORD. On Foreign Policy he’s shown there’s nothing there to talk about! So Romney decided to run on Bain Capital instead, another piece of pre-existing political calculation that also turned around to bite him in the (you know!).
So now Republicans want their golden, nah, scrap that (pun intended) their brass boy to come up with specifics. I FOR ONE CAN’T WAIT! Because the grandiose house of cards that he’s building in the sky with Paul Ryan as Atlas is sure to come tumbling down with specifics. The numbers DON’T add up. Let’s see Romney juggle them!
Why? Because I can come to you and tell you: I am going to get my parents mansion and millions of dollars pretty soon and make myself very popular until you find out that I plan to kill my parents to get those riches!
So please Mr. Romney, show me how -22 and +2 = +$20. Yes, Mr. Romney, if I owe $22 and someone gives me $2 to pay on the bill, please tell America how I end up with $22! (Unless I rob or borrow $20 from somewhere…? Is that what you are planning to do, Mr. Romney?)
Like my bro former President Bill Clinton said: “It’s Arithmetic!”
The MATH DOES NOT ADD UP – and now even conservatives in Mr. Romney’s own party are beginning to see that: THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES!
Full Text of Speech by The Honorable Deval Patrick, Governor of Massachusetts to the Democratic National Convention: Tuesday, September 4, 2012
Good evening, Democrats! Are you fired up? Are you ready to go? I hope so.
This is the election of a lifetime. Because more than any one candidate or policy, what’s at stake is the American dream. That dream—the ability to imagine a better way for ourselves and our families and then reach for it—is central to who we are and what we stand for as a nation. Whether that dream endures for another generation depends on you and me. It depends on who leads us, too.
In Massachusetts, we know Mitt Romney. By the time he left office, Massachusetts was 47th in the nation in job creation—during better economic times—and household income in our state was declining. He cut education deeper than anywhere else in America. Roads and bridges were crumbling. Business taxes were up, and business confidence was down.
Our clean energy potential was stalled. And we had a structural budget deficit. Mitt Romney talks a lot about all the things he’s fixed. I can tell you that Massachusetts wasn’t one of them. He’s a fine fellow and a great salesman, but as governor he was more interested in having the job than doing it.
When I came to office, we set out on a different course: investing in ourselves and our future. And today Massachusetts leads the nation in economic competitiveness, student achievement, health care coverage, life sciences and biotech, energy efficiency and veterans’ services. Today, with the help of the Obama administration, we are rebuilding our roads and bridges and expanding broadband access.
Today we’re out of the deficit hole Mr. Romney left, and we’ve achieved the highest bond rating in our history. Today—with labor at the table—we’ve made the reforms in our pension and benefits systems, our schools, our transportation system and more that Mr. Romney only talked about. And today in Massachusetts, you can also marry whomever you love. We have much more still to do. But we are on a better track because we placed our faith not in trickle-down fantasies and divisive rhetoric but in our values and common sense.
The same choice faces the nation today. All that today’s Republicans are saying is that if we just shrink government, cut taxes, crush unions and wait, all will be well. Never mind that those are the very policies that got us into recession to begin with! Never mind that not one of the governors who preached that gospel in Tampa last week has the results to show for it. But we Democrats owe America more than a strong argument for what we are against. We need to be just as strong about what we are for.
The question is: What do we believe? We believe in an economy that grows opportunity out to the middle class and the marginalized, not just up to the well connected. We believe that freedom means keeping government out of our most private affairs, including out of a woman’s decision whether to keep an unwanted pregnancy and everybody’s decision about whom to marry.
We believe that we owe the next generation a better country than we found and that every American has a stake in that. We believe that in times like these we should turn to each other, not on each other. We believe that government has a role to play, not in solving every problem in everybody’s life but in helping people help themselves to the American dream. That’s what Democrats believe.
If we want to win elections in November and keep our country moving forward, if we want to earn the privilege to lead, it’s time for Democrats to stiffen our backbone and stand up for what we believe. Quit waiting for pundits or polls or super PACs to tell us who the next president or senator or congressman is going to be. We’re Americans.
We shape our own future. Let’s start by standing up for President Barack Obama.
- This is the president who delivered the security of affordable health care to every single American after 90 years of trying. This is the president who brought Osama bin Laden to justice, who ended the war in Iraq and is ending the war in Afghanistan.
- This is the president who ended “don’t ask, don’t tell” so that love of country, not love of another, determines fitness for military service. Who made equal pay for equal work the law of the land. This is the president who saved the American auto industry from extinction, the American financial industry from self-destruction, and the American economy from depression. Who added over 4.5 million private sector jobs in the last two-plus years, more jobs than George W. Bush added in eight.
The list of accomplishments is long, impressive and barely told—even more so when you consider that congressional Republicans have made obstruction itself the centerpiece of their governing strategy. With a record and a vision like that, I will not stand by and let him be bullied out of office—and neither should you, and neither should you and neither should you.
What’s at stake is real. The Orchard Gardens Elementary School in Boston was in trouble. Its record was poor, its spirit was broken, and its reputation was a wreck. No matter how bad things were in other urban schools in the city, people would say, “At least we’re not Orchard Gardens.”
Today, thanks to a host of new tools, many enacted with the help of the Obama administration, Orchard Gardens is turning itself around. Teaching standards and accountabilities are higher. The school day is longer and filled with experiential learning, art, exercise and music.
The head of pediatric psychology from a local hospital comes to consult with faculty and parents on the toughest personal situations in students’ home lives. Attendance is up, thanks to a mentoring initiative. In less than a year, Orchard Gardens went from one of the worst schools in the district to one of the best in the state. The whole school community is engaged and proud.
So am I. At the end of my visit a year and a half ago, the first grade—led by a veteran teacher—gathered to recite Dr. King’s “I have a dream” speech. When I started to applaud, the teacher said, “not yet.” Then she began to ask those six- and seven-year-olds questions: “What does ‘creed’ mean?” “What does ‘nullification’ mean?” “Where is Stone Mountain?” And as the hands shot up, I realized that she had taught the children not just to memorize that speech but to understand it.
Today’s Republicans and their nominee for president tell us that those first-graders are on their own—on their own to deal with their poverty; with ill-prepared young parents, maybe who speak English as a second language; with an underfunded school; with neighborhood crime and blight; with no access to nutritious food and no place for their mom to cash a paycheck; with a job market that needs skills they don’t have; with no way to pay for college.
But those Orchard Gardens kids should not be left on their own. Those children are America’s children, too, yours and mine. And among them are the future scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers, artists, engineers, laborers and civic leaders we desperately need. For this country to rise, they must rise—and they and their cause must have a champion in the White House.
That champion is Barack Obama. That cause is the American dream. Let’s fight for that. Let’s canvass and phone bank and get out the vote for that. Let’s go tell everyone we meet that, when the American dream is at stake, you want Barack Obama in charge.
Thank you. God bless you. And God bless the United States.
This Orchard Gardens K-8 Pilot school was SO bad that when it opened the school sent out a notice to parents in their zone, like ME, inviting me to send my son there and I said no thanks. Instead, I put my son in a Boston program – METCO (that buses inner city kids to high performing suburban schools) and sent him to a town 14 miles away!
So when governor Patrick says the school was bad, IT WAS BAD. Orchard Gardens is a public housing development in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood, in an area plagued by crime and drugs. IT IS REAL. It is not a promise in a campaign speech!!! When Romney and his running mate Mitt Ryan cut funding for the poor, this school will suffer either directly or INdirectly through welfare cuts.
I would prefer to see these kids parents’ continue to get benefits SO their kids remain in a stable enough home environment to allow them to EXCEL at school so THEY won’t be on welfare themselves…than cut welfare NOW and end up with the cycle of ANOTHER DEPENDENT GENERATION. Of course that’s the Republican way. Mishandle one problem, create two or more problems.
